Position Title: CNC Lathe Programmer/ Set up Machinist
Reports To: VP of Operations
Department: Engineering
Machine's: Fanuc Control
Job Scope and Skill Set:

The CNC Lathe Programmer is responsible for the development and implementation of methods that respond to customer needs, control manufacturing tooling, provide innovative solutions to common problems, and clearly develop and communicate reliable solutions for technical issues. The CNC Lathe Programmer is also responsible for the development and improvement of CNC programs to meet production needs for Doosan turning centers.

Responsibilities include developing and improving manufacturing processes by studying product, evaluate equipment and manufacturing methods.

Duties and Areas of Responsibility:

Program production orders within the CNC Department.
Setup production orders within the CNC Department.
Monitor and Control manufacturing tooling.
Investigate new cutting tool choices to ensure the latest and greatest technology is implemented in the manufacturing process
Perform need evaluations to understand the unique goals of each project and then implement after careful assessment.
Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Create rough sketch drawings for in-process operations as required.
Ensure work is completed in a timely fashion to ensure we are meeting the customer’s requirements (deadlines).
Assist in the design of machining fixtures for new jobs and improvement of existing jobs with a collaborative approach.
Maintain and organize all programs for all CNC Lathe machines.
Assists in the training and development of WPA Works Lathe Production Employees.
Follow and support all applicable ISO9001 & AS9100 standards and procedures.
Stay current with industry trends, technical developments, and best engineering practices.
Various manufacturing duties based on day-to-day company needs.

Other Duties as Assigned and not limited to:
Assistance with the Quotation and Order Review Processes as required.
Other assignments on an as needed basis per management.

Experience and Knowledge:
5+ years working in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of CNC Lathe Machining
Good working knowledge of MasterCAM
Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
Experience with inspection tools: Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gages, Etc.
Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and use
Knowledge of mechanical properties of materials: aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper, tool steels, titanium, Inconel, etc.
Knowledge of production processes, continuous improvement, quality assurance, etc.
Ability to enter data related to engineering tooling and products.
Ability to use logic and reasoning in approaches to problem solving.
Ability to read, write and communicate efficiently in English with internal and external personnel in a professional manner.
