Job Overview

Join our dynamic team as an Orthotic and Prosthetic Technician, where you will play a vital role in designing, fabricating, and fitting custom orthotic and prosthetic devices that enhance patient mobility and quality of life. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work closely with healthcare professionals and patients, ensuring precise craftsmanship and exceptional patient care. You will utilize your technical skills, knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and passion for helping others to deliver innovative solutions that meet individual needs. This paid role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to make a meaningful impact in the field of orthotics and prosthetics.

Responsibilities

Assist with patient intake processes, including gathering relevant medical history and understanding patient needs
Prepare, modify, and assemble orthotic and prosthetic devices using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques in a fabrication shop environment
Ensure proper ICD coding for billing and documentation purposes in electronic health records (EHR) systems
Follow aseptic techniques during device fabrication and fitting procedures to maintain hygiene standards
Collaborate with clinicians on device adjustments, fittings, and patient care plans to optimize comfort and functionality
Maintain accurate documentation of fabrication steps, patient interactions, and device modifications in medical terminology
Communicate effectively with clients to explain device usage, care instructions, and answer questions about orthotics or prosthetics

Qualifications

Prior experience in fabrication shop environments or hands-on work with hand tools and power tools used in orthotic/prosthetic fabrication
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, orthopedics, and medical terminology relevant to orthotics and prosthetics
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management systems for documentation purposes
Basic life support certification preferred to ensure safety during patient interactions
Excellent client communication skills with a focus on patient service and education
Ability to perform intake assessments accurately and follow detailed fabrication procedures
Knowledge of DME (Durable Medical Equipment), orthotics, prosthetics, ICD coding, aseptic techniques, and client-centered care practices
