Position Summary

Our client builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place, while providing training and support to the adult volunteers who guide them. We are passionate about developing girl and adult leaders and seek confident, energetic self-starters who enjoy communicating and building connections. The ideal candidate is creative, thrives in a multifaceted environment, adapts well to change, and is eager to make a positive impact in the lives of girls through engaging them in hands-on learn by doing experiences that increase knowledge, develop skills, clarify values, and that have real-world application.

The Director of Girl Experience and Programming (DGEP) provides leadership and oversight to the Program team and leads the strategic development, design, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality, outcomes-based programs that support membership retention and growth while strengthening girls’ leadership skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provides leadership and management to the Program team, ensuring alignment with GSUSA philosophy and council policies, procedures, standards, and business practices and establishes clear expectations and accountability, while providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and staff development.
Collaborates with the fund development department to:

o Cultivate corporate partnerships that support council-wide programs

o Identify funding opportunities

o Complete grant applications, funder interviews, and funder program evaluations

Engages community partners to expand Girl Scout program opportunities.
Develops, tracks, and maintains an annual operating budget that supports program needs, ensures quality services, and promotes cost-effectiveness.
Works with other GSHS departments to build collaborative relationships with community organizations, agencies, and businesses that support GSHS local program efforts.
Promotes girl and adult safety by educating others on safe practices and ensuring consistent interpretation of GSUSA and GSHS policies, standards, and procedures
Leads the planning, organization, and execution of council-wide events from conceptualization through post-event evaluation, including:

o Planning and Strategy: Defines event goals, develops project plans, and manages timelines.

o Logistics and Execution: Ensures venue selection, catering, audiovisual equipment, décor, and staffing.

o Budget Management: Establishes, tracks, and maintains event budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness.

o Vendor Relations: Researches, negotiates with, and manages third-party vendors and suppliers.

o On-Site Management: Oversees event setup, manages operations during events, and resolves issues in real time.

o Marketing and Promotion: Partners with marketing and communications team to promote events and manage registration.

o Post-Event Analysis: Evaluates outcomes, reviews return on investment, and gathers attendee feedback.

Qualifications/Requirements

Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills for managing relationships with corporate partners, community partners, vendors, and volunteers
Ability to plan, manage, and implement a multifaceted workload with minimal supervision
Excellent time management skills and ability to work effectively with multiple priorities and deadlines
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as required
Ability to build relationships with an array of community partners, schools, volunteers, girls, parents, and other youth-serving organizations
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to changing environments, and respond calmly and effectively to on-site issues
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and make ethical decisions
Highly organized, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, social media, and other web-based platforms
Ability to successfully complete required drug screening and criminal background and/or credit checks
Ability to learn, apply, interpret, and promote the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, as well as Girl Scout policies, standards, and organizational structures
Willingness to learn, embrace, and promote the Girl Scout philosophy
Ability to relate to and foster the contributions of people from diverse backgrounds
Must have reliable transportation
Must complete required training to drive a 15-passenger van
Travel within the council’s jurisdiction is required

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in program and event planning, project management, child and youth development and education, or experiential education
Minimum of three years of experience in staff supervision, project management, and event planning
Experience in community organizing and fundraising is a plus
Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, such as Salesforce is a plus

Language Skills: Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement.
