Byers Industrial Services is actively seeking experienced Industrial Mechanical Foremen to lead crews on industrial construction, machinery installations, plant renovations, equipment relocations, shutdowns, maintenance projects, and mechanical upgrades throughout Southern New Jersey and the surrounding region.
This is a working foreman position requiring a strong hands-on mechanical background. We're looking for leaders who are comfortable directing crews while remaining actively involved in the work.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in industrial millwright work, machinery installation, precision alignment, heavy rigging, industrial pipefitting, welding, fabrication, and industrial facilities maintenance.

What You'll Be Doing
As an Industrial Mechanical Foreman, you will lead crews while remaining actively involved in field operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop mechanical crews
- Coordinate manpower, production schedules, equipment, and materials
- Plan daily work activities and maintain project productivity
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings, equipment layouts, and manufacturer specifications
- Coordinate work with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and customers
- Maintain OSHA compliance while promoting a strong safety culture
- Troubleshoot field issues and make sound decisions with minimal supervision
- Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule
- Lead by example while maintaining exceptional workmanship and professionalism
Industrial Millwright Responsibilities
We're looking for experienced Industrial Millwrights with extensive knowledge of machinery installation and precision mechanical work.
Responsibilities include:
- Install, dismantle, relocate, rebuild, and commission industrial machinery
- Set, level, grout, and anchor heavy mechanical equipment
- Install and align pumps, motors, compressors, conveyors, gearboxes, fans, mixers, agitators, turbines, and rotating equipment
- Perform precision shaft alignment using laser alignment systems, dial indicators, feeler gauges, precision levels, and micrometers
- Verify machinery elevations, tolerances, baseplates, sole plates, grout elevations, and anchor bolt locations
- Troubleshoot and repair industrial mechanical equipment
- Replace bearings, couplings, seals, shafts, bushings, sprockets, belts, chains, and gearboxes
- Install conveyor systems, production equipment, and material handling systems
- Perform equipment tear-outs, machinery relocations, shutdown work, and startup/commissioning activities
- Assist with preventative and predictive maintenance programs
Heavy Rigging Experience Required
Qualified candidates should have extensive experience performing and leading:

Industrial Pipefitting
We're seeking experienced Industrial Pipefitters capable of working independently from prints.
Candidates MUST be able to read and interpret P&IDs, piping isometric drawings, mechanical blueprints, and installation drawings without supervision.
Responsibilities include:
- Read and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, piping blueprints, and mechanical layouts
- Perform complete pipe layout and spool fabrication
- Install threaded, flanged, socket weld, grooved, and butt weld piping systems
- Install Schedule 10, Schedule 40, and Schedule 80 piping
- Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, and other industrial piping materials
- Install compressed air, steam, process, utility, chemical, and water piping systems
- Perform pipe fit-up while maintaining proper alignment and tolerances
- Cut, bevel, thread, groove, bend, and prepare piping for installation
- Install hangers, supports, anchors, guides, and structural supports
- Perform hydrostatic, pneumatic, and pressure testing
- Troubleshoot piping systems and replace valves, steam traps, flanges, fittings, and mechanical components
Applicants who cannot independently read prints, perform pipe layout, and fabricate from isometric drawings will not be considered.
Welding & Fabrication
Candidates should possess strong industrial welding and fabrication experience.
Responsibilities include:
- MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding
- Structural steel fabrication

- Miscellaneous steel fabrication
- Field modifications and repairs
- Reading fabrication drawings and weld symbols
- Precision fit-up and material preparation
Industrial Facilities Maintenance
Industrial maintenance leadership experience is highly desirable.
Experience may include:
- Production equipment maintenance
- Conveyor systems
- Pumps and compressors
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Mechanical troubleshooting
- Root cause analysis

- Preventative maintenance

Qualifications
- Previous Industrial Mechanical Foreman experience preferred
- Journeyman-level Millwright, Pipefitter, Welder/Fabricator, or Multi-Craft Mechanical background
- Strong industrial construction or industrial maintenance experience
- Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and isometric drawings
- OSHA 30 preferred
- Valid Driver's License
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
