Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Director Social Services will supervise the team(s) engaged in providing case management assistance to Families with Children shelter in an effort to meet the needs of migrants in NYC. He/she will oversee the day-to-day operation of social services department. They will need to work collaboratively with other on-site departments to facilitate effective methods of problem solving and the alignment of strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Knowledge of DHS Public Assistance requirements, supportive housing processes, and PATH placement.
Manage intake and complete comprehensive assessments for all new participants. Screen and process clients for potential entitlements.
Supervise case management and clinical staff. Provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
Develop systems that ensure the quality and efficiency of casework services and evidence-based interventions.
Ensure staff identify client needs and make appropriate referrals. Require timely, documented follow-up to support service plan goals.
Ensure assessments, service plans, client interactions, and required reports are accurately documented and submitted on time. Conduct periodic QA reviews of records and data tools.
Serve as liaison with DHS, including intake centers. Coordinate with onsite schools and service providers.
Ensure compliance with DHS and OTDA mandates and reporting requirements. Maintain continuous audit readiness.
Oversee CARES, HOMES, and other DHS data systems. Ensure all information submitted to HRA and DHS is accurate and complete.
Partner with facilities, security, and operations leadership to maintain site safety and regulatory compliance.
Promote teamwork, professional conduct, and a trauma-informed culture.
Monitor client progress toward housing goals and adjust service strategies as needed.
Act as the point of escalation for incidents, emergencies, and client grievances. Complete critical incident reports and required DHS notifications.
Train casework staff to engage service-resistant clients and to develop effective outreach strategies.
Identify program needs and make data-informed recommendations. Perform related tasks as assigned.
Provide 24/7 emergency on-call coverage.

Experience, Education and Qualifications

MSW should be preferred. Bachelor's in human services or related field
3 years of supervisory experience is required.

Physical Requirements (Essential Functions)

This position requires the ability to move throughout the facility and perform tasks that may include:

Standing or sitting for extended periods
Bending, squatting, or reaching
Occasionally lifting or carrying up to 30 pounds
