Overview
HOPESS (Homes of Personal Enrichment & Sobriety Services) serves some of Arizona’s highest‑need individuals through its 175‑bed Behavioral Health Residential Facility (BHRF) in North Central Phoenix, with a strong focus on people living with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and justice‑involved individuals. As part of our commitment to long‑term recovery and continuity of care, HOPESS is developing an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to provide a structured step‑down level of support for individuals transitioning from residential treatment. This program is designed to strengthen stability, support community reintegration, and improve long‑term recovery outcomes by ensuring clients remain connected to high‑quality, coordinated mental health care.

As a Group Facilitator in our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), you will play a vital role in delivering structured, evidence-based group services to clients receiving outpatient behavioral health treatment. This position supports clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and high standards of care.

Your primary responsibilities include facilitating curriculum-driven group therapy sessions, maintaining accurate and timely documentation, collaborating with the multidisciplinary treatment team, and ensuring a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Group Facilitation: Lead and manage group sessions creating a safe trauma informed and inclusive environment for all participants.
Schedule Adherence: Follow the established group schedule, ensuring timely preparation and execution of each session.
Engagement: Encourage active participation and foster positive interactions among group members.
Documentation: Complete detailed group notes at the end of each shift, capturing key discussions, participant feedback, and any notable incidents.Document participation level, client response to interventions, progress toward treatment goals, and any notable clinical observations.
Collaboration: Work closely with clinicians and BHTs to monitor resident behavior during group sessions, ensuring alignment with individual treatment plans.
Compliance Management: Enforce group rules and guidelines to maintain a respectful and productive atmosphere, addressing any behavioral concerns as they arise.
Attendance Monitoring: Track attendance and participation, reporting any patterns or concerns to the clinical team.
Confidentiality: Adhere to confidentiality protocols regarding discussions in group settings, ensuring a safe and trusting environment for residents.Model professionalism, accountability, and ethical conduct at all times.
Program Development: Contribute ideas for group topics and activities that promote personal growth and community building.Provide feedback regarding program effectiveness and client engagement trends.

Experience/Skills and Knowledge:

Basic understanding of behavioral health and substance use disorders
Minimum of 3 months experience in a behavioral health, substance use, or related support setting (IOP experience preferred)
Familiarity with evidence-based group facilitation techniques.
Ability to lead or co-lead structured groups using a provided curriculum.
Strong communication and active listening skills
Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and support a safe group environment
Comfortable redirecting conversations and managing group dynamics
Ability to manage group dynamics in an outpatient setting
Reliable, organized, and able to maintain consistent scheduling
Basic documentation skills, including group note entry and attendance tracking

Qualification:

High School Diploma or equivalent required; relevant behavioral health coursework or certification preferred.
Experience in group facilitation, behavioral health, or substance use treatment preferred
Organizational skills to manage schedules and documentation effectively
Compassionate, professional, and recovery-oriented approach to client care

Standard Qualifications:

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Valid Fingerprint Clearance
Two TB and Risk Questionnaire
CPR/ First Aid Preferred
Pre-Employment Drug Screening
High School Diploma or GED preferred

Pre-Employment Requirements

Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening, which includes testing for all substances prohibited by federal law, including but not limited to marijuana. Candidates will pay for the drug test performed by MBI.
