Health & Safety Professional (CHST Required)

Location: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) – Terminal 5 (est. 2+ yrs)

About SASCO

SASCO is a leading electrical contractor committed to delivering quality projects through a values-based culture where health, safety, integrity, teamwork, and accountability are at the core of everything we do. We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Professional to join our team and provide full-time, site-specific health and safety support on a major construction project at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Terminal 5.

Position Summary

The Health & Safety Professional will be responsible for implementing and maintaining SASCO’s health and safety program on a complex commercial construction project. This individual will work closely with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations, owner requirements, and company health and safety policies while promoting a proactive safety culture.

Essential Responsibilities

· Provide full-time on-site health and safety oversight for construction operations.

· Serve as the primary health and safety liaison between SASCO, the owner, and other project stakeholders.

· Conduct daily job-site walks/inspections to identify and report both safe and unsafe conditions and behaviors.

· Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA regulations, owner requirements, and SASCO health and safety policies.

· Participate in pre-task planning and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for all scopes of work including electrical, confined space, trenching/excavation, etc.

· Assist in the maintenance of accurate health and safety documentation, inspection reports, training records, and compliance logs.

Minimum Qualifications

· Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Certified Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification (required per contract).

· OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification or OSHA 500 Trainer Course in lieu of OSHA 30 (required).

· Minimum 5 years of construction health and safety experience, preferably on commercial construction projects.

· Thorough knowledge of Cal/OSHA construction health and safety regulations.

· Experience conducting health and safety inspections, incident investigations, and health and safety training.

· Ability to work effectively with craft employees, supervisors, project management, and owners.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience working on aviation, airport, or large public infrastructure projects.

· Experience working for an electrical contractor.

· Additional BCSP certifications (SMS, ASP, CSP) are a plus.

· First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor or Trainer certifications are desirable.
