Human Resources Specialist

Position Summary

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for delivering comprehensive HR support by partnering with employees and operational leaders to promote employee engagement, maintain compliance with employment laws and company policies, resolve employee relations matters, and support workforce planning initiatives.

The HR Specialist exercises sound judgment while independently managing employee concerns, conducting workplace investigations, administering corrective actions, supporting performance management, and coordinating HR programs that contribute to a productive and positive work environment. This role acts as the key HR liaison and partners closely with HR leadership to ensure consistency across all operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Serve as the on-site Human Resources representative for designated shift operations.
Partner with supervisors and managers to provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, attendance, coaching, and corrective action.
Conduct confidential workplace investigations involving policy violations, employee complaints, harassment concerns, attendance issues, and workplace conflicts.
Prepare accurate documentation related to investigations, disciplinary actions, employee counseling, and performance improvement plans.
Ensure consistent interpretation and application of company policies, procedures, and employment practices.
Provide coaching to supervisors regarding employment decisions, documentation standards, and conflict resolution.
Support employee engagement initiatives and foster a positive workplace culture.
Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding for second shift employees.
Coordinate recruiting activities, interviews, candidate selection, and hiring processes as needed.
Process new hire, status change, and termination documentation within the HRIS.
Monitor attendance trends and partner with operations leadership to address attendance and scheduling concerns.
Review and audit employee time records for payroll accuracy and compliance.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, leave programs, company policies, and HR procedures.
Coordinate workplace injury reporting, workers' compensation documentation, and communication with Safety and Risk Management.
Maintain employee personnel files and HR records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
Assist with unemployment claims, employment verifications, and HR reporting.
Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, EEO, FLSA, and applicable Arizona employment regulations.
Assist with HR audits, policy implementation, training initiatives, and continuous process improvement.
Participate in special HR projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2-4 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
Experience supporting warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics operations preferred.
Demonstrated experience managing employee relations, investigations, and disciplinary processes.
Working knowledge of state employment law and HR best practices.
Experience with HRIS and payroll/timekeeping systems (UKG preferred).
Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk throughout warehouse and office environments for extended periods.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, and use standard office equipment.
Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures and operational environments.

Work Environment

This position operates within both office and warehouse environments, requiring regular interaction with employees, supervisors, and leadership throughout the facility. The role requires visibility on the warehouse floor to support operational needs, employee engagement, and timely resolution of workplace issues.
