Youth Program Coordinator (Full-Time, Hourly W-2 Employee)

BAM! Business Art Mentorship - Grand Junction, CO.

40 hours/week. $18.27–$23.08 per hour (full-time annual equivalent: $38,001.60–$48,006.40, based on 2,080 hrs per year). Hybrid. Some weekends and evenings required

About BAM!

BAM! Business Art Mentorship is a youth-centered program of Trail Lamp Youth Services in Grand Junction, Colorado. We create safe, affirming spaces where underserved and LGBTQ2S+ youth build confidence, leadership, creativity, connection, and future opportunities through art, entrepreneurship, mentoring, and community.

Our work is grounded in equity, trauma-informed practice, LGBTQ2S+ affirmation, and the belief that every young person deserves to feel seen, supported, respected, and valued.

Position Summary

The Youth Program Coordinator is a full-time role that combines direct youth support with program coordination and administrative follow-through.

This position is a strong fit for someone who has experience working with underserved and LGBTQ2S+ youth, can build trust with young people, and is also highly organized with schedules, rosters, forms, spreadsheets, packets, emails, calendars, supplies, and documentation.

The right person is warm, steady, equity-minded, detail-oriented, and able to stay grounded in busy program spaces. This person should be comfortable interacting with youth, volunteers and mentors, helping lead activities or announcements, speaking in front of groups, and supporting the systems that keep programs running smoothly.

This role reports to the Program Manager and the Executive Director.

Seasonal Role Overview

January through March: More hybrid, systems-focused, including onboarding, training coordination, scheduling, document tracking, participation tracking, and internal organization.

April through December: More in-person and program-facing, supporting Art Club, BAM! Entrepreneurs, workshops, outreach events, field trips, festivals, and youth productions.

Key ResponsibilitiesYouth and Program Support

Build positive, professional relationships with youth ages 12–21
Help create a safe, affirming, trauma-informed environment
Support youth participation, engagement, and belonging
Assist with announcements, activities, transitions, and schedule flow
Speak in front of youth, mentors, volunteers, and community members as needed
Be present for assigned programs and events from setup through cleanup
Communicate concerns, safety issues, or logistical needs to leadership in a timely way

Coordination, Logistics, and Systems

Support program schedules, calendars, reminders, timelines, packets, rosters, and event details
Track attendance, participation, youth forms, and basic program data
Coordinate supplies, materials, setup, cleanup, inventory, transportation logistics, and mentor coordination
Draft and send reminders, follow-ups, and internal communications
Maintain organized onboarding and training systems for staff, mentors, volunteers, contractors, and youth employees
Track documents using Google Sheets, Google Drive, Monday.com, JotForm, and related systems
Prepare checklists, guides, handouts, packets, slide decks, forms, spreadsheets, and documentation

Team Communication

Maintain clear communication with the Program Manager and Executive Director
Coordinate and support mentors, volunteers, contractors, youth staff, and community partners
Follow through on assigned tasks and communicate early when support is needed
Stay flexible and solution-focused when program needs shift

The ideal candidate is:

Experienced in direct youth work, especially with youth ages 12–21
Equity mindset and passionate about working with underserved and LGBTQ2S+ youth
Comfortable engaging youth and building trust
Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
Confident speaking in front of groups and helping guide program flow
Calm and professional during busy or emotionally complex situations
Able to balance youth support with administrative details
Strong in communication, follow-through, and teamwork
Flexible, persistent, and able to handle the stamina required in youth programming
Committed to equity, inclusion, trauma-informed practice, and LGBTQ2S+ affirmation

Required Qualifications

At least 2 years of relevant experience in youth-serving, community-based, coordination, or program support work
Direct experience working with youth ages 12–21
Experience working with underserved youth and/or LGBTQ2S+ youth
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfort speaking in front of groups and supporting live program activities
Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through
Ability to manage schedules, emails, forms, spreadsheets, calendars, packets, and documentation
Experience using Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets, Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Calendar
Experience coordinating logistics for programs, trainings, events, or community-based work
Availability for some in-person weekend and evening programs/events
Commitment to equity, inclusion, LGBTQ2S+ affirmation, and trauma-informed practice

Preferred Qualifications

Nonprofit experience
Experience supporting youth leadership, arts programming, entrepreneurship, mentoring, or community-based programs.
Experience supporting workshops, events, field trips, youth productions, or community programs
Experience with spreadsheets, Google Workspace, Monday.com, JotForm, or similar systems
Lived and/or professional experience connected to the communities BAM! serves

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, hourly, nonexempt W-2 employee position. Pay is $18.27–$23.08/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

The annual equivalent is approximately $38,001.60–$48,006.40, based on 2,080 hours worked per year. Compensation is based on actual hours worked.

Benefits include:

Paid time off accrual: 1 hour of PTO for every 30 hours worked
Paid holidays: New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day

Quarterly reviews, with potential hourly wage increases based on performance, budget, and organizational discretion
Total hourly cost of living wage increases ( not to exceed 5% of base wage within one year)
Employer-paid payroll costs and required insurance in accordance with applicable law, including employer payroll taxes, workers’ compensation, and unemployment insurance

Schedule

This is a full-time position at approximately 40 hours per week.

Some weekend and evening availability is required for youth programs, trainings, community events, field trips, festivals, and special programming. With rare exceptions, most needs are clearly presented on our program calendar and vary by season and program schedule.

Some administrative work may be completed remotely or hybrid depending on program needs, scheduling, and supervisor approval. This role requires consistent in-person availability for youth programs, trainings, events, and team needs.
