2nd Shift Supervisor

Location: Okemos, MI

Position Type: Full-Time

Schedule: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Schedule Rotation:

Week 1: Monday–Wednesday (Thursday & Friday Off), then work Saturday & Sunday
Week 2: Monday–Friday (Weekend Off)
Every other weekend required

Position Summary

Heartland Center for Autism is seeking a motivated and compassionate Residential Shift Supervisor to lead our residential treatment team during second shift. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the home, supervising Direct Care staff, maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment, and ensuring exceptional care for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioral health needs.

This leadership role serves as the first point of contact for staff during the shift and is responsible for supporting employee performance, coordinating daily operations, responding to behavioral crises, maintaining appropriate staffing coverage, and ensuring compliance with company policies, licensing standards, and clinical programming. The Shift Supervisor works closely with the Operations Manager and clinical leadership to promote consistency, accountability, and high-quality resident care while fostering a positive team culture.

The ideal candidate is a confident, organized leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively, and is passionate about helping children reach their fullest potential.

QualificationsRequired

Bachelor's Degree
Valid Driver's License
Ability to pass all required background checks (CPS, Central Registry, etc.)
TB and health screening
Basic computer proficiency

Preferred

Previous leadership or supervisory experience
Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, direct care, or healthcare settings
Experience using Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office applications

Key Responsibilities

Supervise, coach, and support Direct Care staff throughout the shift.
Oversee the daily operations of the residential program while maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and assist with staffing needs when necessary.
Lead staff through behavioral crises and provide direction during emergency situations.
Ensure staff are implementing resident treatment plans and behavioral programming with fidelity.
Monitor staff performance and provide coaching, mentorship, and accountability.
Ensure compliance with company policies, licensing requirements, safety procedures, and documentation standards.
Review and complete shift documentation, communication logs, incident reports, and daily reports.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming residential environment.
Communicate effectively with the Operations Manager, clinical team, and leadership regarding resident care, staffing concerns, and operational needs.
Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring new employees.
Utilize Microsoft Teams and other electronic communication systems to coordinate daily operations, communicate with leadership, and complete assigned tasks.
Promote a positive, collaborative, and professional team culture while ensuring residents receive compassionate, high-quality care.
