Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized, discreet, and versatile professional to serve as our Human Resources Generalist and Administrative Assistant. This is a dual-focus role: roughly half your time supports the full range of HR operations, and the other half provides direct administrative support to the CEO.

You will be a trusted right hand to leadership and a go-to resource for employees across the company. The ideal candidate thrives on variety, protects confidential information without fail, and can move fluidly between strategic HR work and hands-on administrative execution.

Key ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources (approximately 50%)

Manage full-cycle recruiting: posting roles, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and supporting hiring decisions.
Own onboarding and offboarding, including new-hire paperwork, orientation, and exit processes.
Administer employee benefits, coordinate open enrollment, and serve as the first point of contact for benefits questions.
Support payroll processing and maintain accurate timekeeping and compensation records.
Maintain employee records and the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, record-keeping, and drug & alcohol testing program administration.
Draft and maintain HR policies, the employee handbook, and standard operating procedures.
Support employee relations, performance review cycles, and training coordination.
Help build and improve HR processes as the company grows.

Administrative Support to the CEO (approximately 50%)

Manage complex, shifting calendars for the CEO, including scheduling and prioritizing meetings.
Coordinate travel arrangements, itineraries, and logistics.
Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and track follow-up action items.
Process expense reports and assist with budget tracking.
Draft, proofread, and manage correspondence and internal communications.
Handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest level of discretion.
Oversee general office management, supplies, vendor coordination, and day-to-day operational support.
Take on special projects and ad hoc requests from leadership as they arise.

QualificationsRequired

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
A minimum of 4 years of experience in an HR generalist, administrative, or executive support role (or a combination).
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort learning new software and HRIS platforms.

Preferred

Experience in freight, logistics, transportation, or another operationally intensive industry.
HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR (or willingness to pursue).
Experience supporting C-level executives.
