Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Materials Coordinator to join our manufacturing and supply chain team. In this vital role, you will assist the Materials and Purchasing team with procurement, inventory management, and logistics of materials essential to our production processes. Your proactive approach will ensure seamless coordination between suppliers, production planning, and warehouse operations, driving efficiency and supporting our commitment to lean manufacturing principles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Purchasing Duties
· Create POs in Alere and place orders with approved suppliers for material and non-material items under direction from Purchasing to arrive on-time to meet production schedules and Company needs.
· Communicate with approved suppliers to obtain pricing, confirm availability, and track order status.
· Review supplier order acknowledgements and confirmations for accuracy (pricing, quantities, delivery dates) and resolve any discrepancies immediately.
· Follow up on late or incomplete shipments to prevent production delays and communicate updates to production.
· Maintain accurate vendor records and purchasing files.
· Monitor inventory levels and support MRP review and material planning activities to maintain optimal stock levels.
· Coordinate with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice, PO, and receipt discrepancies.
· Support cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Receiving Duties
· Receive incoming materials and verify shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
· Unload trucks using forklift or pallet jack as required.
· Inspect shipments for damage, ensure quality and specifications match company requirements, and report discrepancies, damaged goods or non-conforming materials promptly.
· Coordinate with Quality for inspection of incoming materials when required.
· Record receipts accurately in the Alere ERP system.
· Label and store materials in appropriate storage or production areas.
· Maintain clean, organized, and safe receiving, storage, and workspace areas.
Inventory Accuracy & Control
· Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts.
· Reconcile physical counts with system records and forward documentation in a timely manner to Materials team for ERP system adjustment.
· Work with the materials management, production and engineering teams to investigate inventory inaccuracies to be resolved in a timely manner.
· Ensure all material movements (receipts, returns, transfers, and PO corrections) are properly recorded in ERP to ensure inventory records are accurate. Maintain documentation related to such transactions.
· Participate in corrective action regarding inventory variances with Materials team.
Education/Experience/Skills Required:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in Supply Chain or related field preferred.
· Basic math and analytical skills for counting, verifying quantities, and reconciling invoices.
· 1-3 years of experience in a full-time inventory control, purchasing/receiving, or materials coordination role in a manufacturing environment.
· Basic understanding of purchasing and inventory control principles.
· Experience using ERP systems (Alere preferred).
· General computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
· Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
· Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
· Problem-solving and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
· Reliable attendance.
- Reads, writes, and communicates in English effectively.
· Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips and bills of lading.
Physical Effort and Working Conditions:
· Regularly required to stand, walk, squat, or bend and use hands and arms to push, pull, reach or grasp.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Frequent handling of boxes, pallets, and materials.
· Requires use of a forklift (certification required) and pallet jack.
· Work performed in a warehouse/manufacturing environment with exposure to wood and metal dust, noise, machinery in operation, and smells associated with woodworking, finishing and metal shop environments.
· No special safety equipment is required.

Hourly Pay: $21-$22
