Director, Public and Community Relations – Methodist Southwest Medical Center

At Methodist Health System, strong relationships with the communities we serve are an important part of our mission. As Director, Public and Community Relations, you will help create and maintain a positive image of Methodist Southwest Medical Center through media relations, community engagement, events, and strategic communications.

You’ll work closely with hospital leadership, community organizations, local media, and the Methodist Health System marketing and public relations team to strengthen relationships and share the stories of Methodist Southwest Medical Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As Director, Public and Community Relations, you will:

Identify, pitch, and secure news stories in accordance with Methodist Health System public relations standards.
Build relationships with print, broadcast, and digital media and respond promptly to media requests.
Assist in developing social media posts and blog articles for Methodist Health System social channels.
Develop and coordinate events and programs, including open houses, groundbreaking ceremonies, dedications, celebrations, and community health education programs.
Represent Methodist Health System and Methodist Southwest Medical Center in sponsorships, donations, and community volunteer initiatives.
Serve as a liaison between Methodist Southwest Medical Center and community groups, leaders, and boards.
Plan and manage the budget for community involvement programs and identify high-impact opportunities to reach strategically targeted audiences.
Collaborate with Methodist Southwest Medical Center leadership to support the hospital’s strategic plan and maintain current knowledge of services, programs, and key events.
Communicate professionally and effectively with physicians, executives, community members, and other key audiences.
Serve as part of the Methodist Health System crisis communications team.
Write content for internal newsletters, public-facing publications, external award nominations, and executive speeches.
Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications.
6-10 years of experience in public relations, media, journalism, or an equivalent field.
Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and verbal communication skills.
Social media experience preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE

40 hours per week.
5 days per week.
