Full Job Description

General Summary: Responsible for guiding direct care staff to ensure an educational and safe living environment for those with Developmental Disabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To work with Training Coordinator with planning, training, monitoring and orientating Direct Care Staff.
Supervise and assist Direct Care Staff in their work in order to hold them accountable.
Ensure treatment plans are followed.
Ensure behavior management plans are followed.
Ensure nutritional programs are followed.
Coordinate recreational programs.
Ensure med schedules are followed.
Coordinate and respond to emergency situations.
Organize and inventory resident possessions.
Perform Direct Care Performance Evaluations.
Monitor client activity; ensure home and unit security, and providing routine time checks.
Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

CPR and First Aid Certification.
Knowledge of general fire safety.
Knowledge of Crisis Prevention Intervention.
Knowledge of Behavior Management.
Written and verbally communicate skills.
Time management skills.
Ability to maintain composure in a stressful environment.
Ability to handle emergency situations.
Ability to operate a 12-passenger vehicle.
Ability to plan and prioritize work.
Ability to be a team player
Ability to supervise and motivate staff.

Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree and two years experience working with Developmentally Disabled residents; Two years of college and three years experience with Developmentally Disabled residents; A high school diploma and four years work experience with Developmentally Disabled residents.

Working Conditions: Residential care living environment, client behavior may change drastically, causing at times a hazardous work environment.
