Full Job Description

We’re looking for a passionate, hands-on Pastry & Cake Team Member to help craft what many consider Northern California’s finest cakes and pastries. Using the highest-quality ingredients — often local and organic — you’ll work alongside a small, dedicated team that treats this craft as a true calling.

What You’ll Do

Prepare and bake a wide variety of cakes, pastries, cookies, and other artisanal goods from scratch following our recipes and standards.
Decorate cakes (or learn to) with creativity and precision.
Monitor ingredient inventory and ensure the highest quality of materials.
Maintain impeccable cleanliness and organization in all workstations while strictly following food safety guidelines.

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience in a bakery, café, or restaurant pastry/cake role (culinary school graduates also welcome).
Hands-on experience baking, working with pastries, and/or decorating cakes.
Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to work quickly, cleanly, and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
A genuine willingness to learn and grow with our team.

Even if your experience is somewhat limited, we are happy to train the right person — but you must bring real passion and some foundational skills. We cannot train from zero experience.

Schedule & Commitment

Early mornings required (shifts may start as early as 4:30–5:30 AM).
Sundays and evenings off, with occasional adjustments around major holidays.
Availability required within a Monday–Saturday window. You must be able to work every Saturday plus days before and after holidays (e.g., Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.).
Long-term commitment preferred — we invest in our team and are looking for someone who wants to grow with us for at least a year.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

We thoroughly check references and past work history for reliability and work ethic.

We are a small, family-owned artisan bread bakery and café in Auburn, California. Everything we make is fresh, from scratch, and built on farm-to-fork principles using the best local and organic ingredients possible. While the work is demanding, our culture is supportive, friendly, and united by a shared love of craft and quality food. We strongly believe in promoting from within.
