Full Job Description

This position is responsible for independently executing daily kitchen production and maintaining an organized, production-ready kitchen with minimal supervision.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking, takes pride in their work, and values an organized, efficient workplace.

Primary Responsibilities

Prepare hot menu items according to standardized recipes and production schedules.
Prepare cold food items including salads, sandwiches, wraps, fruit cups, desserts, and specialty diet meals.
Taste food throughout production to ensure quality, consistency, seasoning, and presentation. Followed up with documention of edits to recipe.
Organize coolers, freezers, dry storage, and prep areas.
Rotate inventory (FIFO), monitor expiration dates, and maintain product organization.
Review the upcoming weekly menu and identify inventory shortages before ordering days.
Set up the next shift for success by preparing ingredients, organizing workstations, and thinking ahead.
Communicate inventory shortages, equipment issues, and production concerns promptly.

Delivery Responsibilities

This position will periodically deliver food to client locations and catering events as business needs require.

Responsibilities include:

Safely load, transport, and unload food and equipment.
Verify delivery orders before departure.
Maintain food safety standards during transport.
Professionally represent Southern Thymes Catering while interacting with clients.
Assist with delivery setup when needed.

Typical Schedule

This is a part-time position averaging approximately 20–25 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours as the business grows.

Typical schedule includes:

Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Thursday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Every other Saturday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Schedules are generally consistent from week to week, with occasional flexibility required to meet client and catering needs.

Qualifications

Experience preparing food by following standardized recipes with consistency and attention to detail.
ServSafe Food Handler or ServSafe Manager Certification (or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe).
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and think ahead to prepare for upcoming production.
Takes pride in producing high-quality food and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen.
Committed to food safety, cleanliness, and consistency.
Dependable, punctual, and reliable.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to safely operate a company vehicle.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
