Full Job Description

OVERVIEW
We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Front End Manager to lead our customer-facing team and help create an exceptional shopping experience. In this role, you'll oversee front-end operations, supervise and develop staff, and serve as a key leader in maintaining the welcoming, community-focused environment we're known for.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service (15%)

Greets customers and provides friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt service; acts as a role model for staff
Upholds high standards for customer service quality and consistency
Provides accurate product information and recommendations
Assists across departments as needed to support the overall customer experience
Ensures every customer has a positive and welcoming shopping experience

Store Operations (15%)

Resolves immediate customer or operational issues in line with store policies; escalates unresolved concerns to the Owners
Keeps the Owners informed of front-end and department-specific needs
Maintains proficiency with the POS system to troubleshoot pricing, database, or functionality issues
Appoints and trains capable Shift Leaders and Cashiers to ensure strong front-end coverage during absences
Coordinates with the Operations Manager to ensure equipment is maintained and functioning properly
Maintains a clean, safe, and organized retail environment
Assists customers in all departments courteously, referring them to other staff when appropriate

Staff Supervision (25%)

Ensures team members complete assigned tasks, take proper breaks, and uphold excellent customer service
Utilizes communication tools (e.g., shift logs) effectively and reviews them each shift for accountability
Delegates and supports completion of daily projects
Maintains adequate front-end staffing levels and ensures the team is informed and supported
Promotes and models a positive, inclusive store culture aligned with company values
Encourages problem solving and initiative among staff
Recognizes strong performance and implements creative engagement or incentive programs
Holds staff accountable to high standards of conduct and performance

Human Resources & Personnel (10%)

Oversees recruitment, onboarding, training, and supervision of front-end staff
Collaborates with the Owners on staffing decisions and long-term personnel planning.
Helps develop and implement training systems to improve team performance
Fosters open communication and employee input
Supports succession planning to reduce disruptions from unexpected staffing changes
Documents and communicates performance concerns; participates in disciplinary actions in partnership with the Owners

Scheduling (10%)

Ensures adequate shift coverage in alignment with company policies
Serves as the main point of contact for scheduling issues and staff call-ins; ensures proper protocol is followed
Coordinates with other managers to cross-train and fill staffing gaps
Reviews and approves time-off requests while maintaining operational needs

Performance Management (10%)

Conducts probationary, semi-annual, and annual staff reviews
Establishes clear and achievable performance goals with staff
Provides timely, actionable feedback and documents all concerns
Follows up regularly to support staff development and improvement
Maintains a high-performance culture aligned with the store’s mission

Training (5%)

Works with Owners and/or Produce Manager or Warehouse Manager to coordinate new hire onboarding and role-specific training
Maintains and refines training materials and procedures
Ensures all staff are consistently trained and up to date on policies
Provides ongoing training refreshers and policy updates

Planning & Leadership (5%)

Stays informed on natural product trends, INFRA programs, and industry developments
Collaborates with leadership to set department goals and address evolving needs
Contributes to store-wide planning and decision-making with the Owners and other department leads.

Marketing & Merchandising (5%)

Supports store merchandising standards to optimize sales and customer experience
Promotes excellent customer service and helps build store visibility and brand alignment

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

Supervisory experience required (including hiring, training, and team leadership)
2-3 years of experience in grocery, food retail, restaurant, or customer service preferred
Experience with cash handling, staff scheduling, and store operations
Demonstrated ability to create systems and maintain a strong customer service culture

Knowledge/Skills:

Familiarity with natural foods or wellness products preferred
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

Computer Skills:

Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet programs (Word, Excel, Google Workspace)
Experience with POS systems and ability to interpret basic financial reports

Other:

Demonstrated ability to identify and respond to customer needs
Strong recordkeeping, prioritization, and collaboration skills
Physical ability to lift 25–40 lbs and work on feet for extended periods
