We expect to see these values demonstrated outwardly to all children in your care, their parents, and your colleagues both at the school and at the YMCA.

The Program Assistant shall:

Serve as the co-leader of the designated site in the Y-ASPIRE after-school program
Support the Site Director and program participants
Model the YMCA Mission and 4 Core Values: Respect, Responsibility, Caring & Honesty

Direct Responsibilities:

Work with the Site Director to provide a program in accordance with YMCA themes

Provide safe & nurturing care to all program participants as per YMCA policies & procedures
Assist with daily snack
Communicate as necessary with Y-ASPIRE participants and the Site Director on issues of safety, behavioral problems and/or any other concerns
Help ensure that the spaces used for the program are left as they were when the group entered them
Attend staff meetings as requested

Qualifications:

Should have child care, education, youth development or related experience
Must fill out and have approved a State 'Records Check Authorization
Able to be certified in CPR and First Aid

Hours of Employment:

Program Assistants work from the time that the local elementary school closes (it varies from school-to-school, generally between 2:20 and 3:00) until 5:00 or 6:00pm (also depending on the site and the number of children.) They will also work all or most of the day when schools are closed for vacations, teacher in-service training and some holidays, as well as for half-days when schools close early due to bad weather or teacher in-service training.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position paying $13 - $15/hr.

Training time is paid, up to the required number of hours for licensing compliance, and as determined by the Individual Professional development plan of each staff.

Regular part-time staff are entitled to payment for holidays falling on normally scheduled work days, for the regularly scheduled number of hours.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
