Fellowship Hall, a 123-bed private, not-for-profit specialty hospital offering abstinence-based alcohol and drug treatment based on the 12-Step Model of Recovery, located on a serene 120-acre country setting in Greensboro, NC, is currently seeking a Weekend RN. Fellowship Hall has been established for over 46 years and enjoys a stellar reputation as one of the premier treatment providers in the country. Our facility has been accredited by Joint Commission since 1974, and we offer inpatient care, detoxification, partial hospital, intensive outpatient, family programming, extended treatment, and structured living. We draw patients (our guests) from North and South Carolina, Virginia, and 23 other States.
Position Summary: Responsible for delivering optimal nursing care and assessing the wellbeing of all guests of Fellowship Hall. This care includes, but is not limited to, providing quality nursing assessments, planning and managing guest care according to individual guest needs, documenting care and outcomes in the electronic medical record, preparing and administering medications/injections as ordered while observing and reporting adverse conditions and reactions to the medical provider, educating guests about ongoing and comorbid conditions, and safely managing withdrawal symptoms with the help of the total treatment team. The RN is also responsible for ongoing assessment and treatment planning according to the guest’s condition. The RN must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills to support continuity of guest care and promote best outcomes. Infection control and guest safety are ongoing priorities. This position requires the individual to work independently with minimal supervision.
The schedule is every Saturday and Sunday, 7:00am - 7:00pm.

Minimum Education:
- Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing. Associate Degree in Nursing – Nursing Diploma.
Minimum Experience:
- One-year direct nursing experience, six months of substance abuse training preferred.
Minimum Licensure/Certification:
- Valid North Carolina Registered Nursing License.
- BLS and First Aid Certification.
- Maintains requirements for continuing education with the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Valid driver’s license.

- Additional courses in substance abuse.

Job Specific Functions
Provides optimal healthcare using nursing skills, assessment skills and knowledge of addictions to facilitate a safe recovery.
Comprehensive Assessment: Performs comprehensive assessment of guest’s health care needs based on data collected through history, observation, basic physical and/or psychological examination, analysis of diagnostic data, and screens individual for pain. Interviews potential and current guests using acceptable techniques appropriate to the guest’s age and level of functioning in order to obtain accurate usage, medical and psychiatric history, or description of guest problems. It includes demonstrating the ability to perform routine tests and vital signs, order appropriate laboratory studies, and accurately document the results in the guests’ electronic medical record within established timeframes.
Treatment Plan: Obtains data for the development of individualized nursing/medical treatment plan according to guest’s needs. Documents the findings from all collected data and collaborates with guests, family, medical and treatment teams to develop a comprehensive plan. Collect data to allow for plan modification. Schedules outside appointments and follow-up as ordered. Reviews provider orders for instruction.
Administering Medications: Prepares and administers the correct medication(s) in the proper method, time and dosage to the correct guest as ordered and explains medication (s) and indications to guests as needed Immediately reports any significant reactions to the provider and responds to guests in acute distress according to established guidelines.
Documentation: Records guest care, outcomes, and other information in the electronic medical record in a timely manner Transcribes and/or notes provider orders as indicated. Ensures and maintains guest confidentiality. Assists other departmental staff in regularly inventorying medical supplies and reorders/restocks as needed.
Health Education: Provides health education instruction to guests on various health issues by providing clear and accurate information to guests about diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge plans, and /or preventive care according to individual guest needs. Monitors guest compliance with instructions and /or medication self-administration and take appropriate actions as needed.
Communication: Communicates with other medical and departmental personnel to coordinate efforts, resolve operational problems, and improve quality of guest care. Works cooperatively with staff both in-departmentally and interdepartmentally. Identifies and evaluates deficiencies in guest care and seeks to resolve deficiencies with the help of the total treatment team. Reports any repairs needed or problems with the physical condition of the unit in a timely manner to the appropriate staff members.
Infection Control: Adheres to universal precautions in all situations to prevent the spread of infection.
Guest Care: Maintains a professional relationship with guests at all times. Provides an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion and respect for all guests without discrimination, while maintaining guest privacy and confidentiality. Responds to guests in a manner that conveys a willingness to assist.
Crisis Management: Assists guests who are experiencing emotional problems using crisis management skills.
Appropriate Care: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, disability, and cultural background of the guest being served. Demonstrates competence in substance abuse withdrawal symptoms, including delirium tremens and symptoms of secondary complications of substance abuse.
Safety Measures: Demonstrates and/or abides by safety measures which prevent employee/guest accidents by using good personal body mechanics. Reports all accidents/incidents and/or hazardous conditions/equipment as policy and procedure dictate. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency policies and procedures.
