Full Job Description

Step into a rewarding opportunity to support early learners by providing vital communication access and instruction in American Sign Language. This contract position invites a skilled Sign Language Interpreter and experienced ASL educator to work one-on-one with a kindergarten student, fostering both academic and personal growth in an inclusive educational environment.

You will serve as a key bridge between the student and the classroom, ensuring seamless communication, while also incorporating teaching elements to promote language development. Beginning as soon as possible and continuing through June 2026, your commitment during student days will make a meaningful impact throughout the school year.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably with early childhood or elementary-age students
Background in ASL instruction or teaching is highly regarded
Compassionate and patient communicator who thrives in collaborative, child-centered settings
Adherence to professional ethics and confidentiality standards

Key Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive ASL interpretation for a kindergarten student during classroom activities, lessons, and school events
Collaborate closely with instructional staff to align interpretation with curriculum and student goals
Deliver ASL language support and instruction as needed to facilitate learning
Foster an inclusive and encouraging environment to promote student participation and confidence
Monitor and document student progress, adapting approaches as needed for optimal development
