The painters are completely responsible for the jobs given to them. The top priorities for individuals in the paint roles are maintaining personal, team, and plant safety; and a high level of quality. In addition to being an excellent priming & finish worker, he or she should exhibit good judgment, high ethical standards, and embrace the teamwork approach.
Duties and Responsibilities
Safety
- Follow PSG safety rules and adhere to the PSG Safety Manual.
- Each individual is responsible for the safety of each job. Employees are expected to monitor both company and individual equipment for proper safety features, safe electrical cords, etc., and inform the Team Leader, Safety Contact, or a member of Management if an unsafe condition exists. Inspect and maintain all company tools to ensure their safety, reliability, and longevity.
- Maintain, wear, and communicate to others the appropriate use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for each job and your area.
- Maintenance of individual job (project) paperwork and working knowledge of all work documents.
- Responsible for knowing and understanding all plant documents including plans, specifications, and change orders. Any questions you have or discrepancies you discover, should be checked with the team leader or floor supervisor.
- Responsible for maintaining all job records as required by the manufacturing process.
- Floor area, project protection and cleanliness
- Must maintain a clean work site. Your group must keep a broom swept job every day. There is also an expectation for the proper storage of tools, materials, and solvents in and around the work area.
- Participate in meetings with management
Work place environment
- The workplace shall operate professionally. Radios should be played quietly, if at all. Foul, intimidating, or abusive language will not be tolerated.
- Tobacco use on the manufacturing floor and outside manufacturing areas is considered a bonus and should not be abused or taken for granted. Future use of tobacco products will be based on housekeeping and the specific disposal of tobacco by-products and general plant appearance.
Overall company policy adherence
- It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that all employees, subcontractors, vendors, and customers working in or around our facility adhere to all of our company’s policies. These include but are not limited to safety, appearance, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction for your portion of work. If anybody is performing in a manner outside of our company policies, you are expected to intervene and report this to your supervisor immediately.
Overtime
- It may be necessary at times to work beyond your regularly scheduled hours. If there is a sufficient backlog of orders, we use overtime to meet our customers’ demands. Whether there is need for overtime work is determined by the floor supervisor or plant manager.
- Assigned overtime is mandatory. Late arrival or failure to report for mandatory overtime is treated as a tardy or absence under the Company attendance policy.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
Education
- High School Diploma (preferred) with previous experience in an industrial paint setting
Specialized knowledge
- Expected to use current practices and have a strong knowledge of available materials in the marketplace, as well as materials used in PSG Manufacturing
Skills
- Using tools and equipment of the trade
- Mathematical analytical skills
Abilities
- Prepare, read, interpret, and work from sketches, drawings, and plans.
- Safely lift and carry heavy tools and materials
- Safely climb ladders
- Work effectively and cooperatively with staff
- Keep accurate records
- Capable of standing 90% of the time
- Work with tools and other materials
- Lift and manipulate objects of up to 75lbs., and to bend, climb, and crawl
Experience
- Previous work in the manufacturing and/or paint industry is considered a plus
Working conditions
- This job may require working in a variety of conditions. These may include day time, evening, and weekends. It may further include shift work, working outdoors, indoors or unconditioned spaces, working with challenging timelines, project scopes, clients and so forth. It may also include working with or in other trade functions.
- Employee may be exposed to any or all of the following conditions: heat, cold, humid, exposure to chemicals, noise, dust, dirt, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, off the ground work. Physical requirements may include lifting and manipulating objects of up to 75lbs., and to bend, climb, crawl, and approximately 90% of time standing.
Physical requirements
Prolonged standing, walking, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, depth perception, visual accommodation, color vision, field of vision, near acuity, far acuity, and strength. Lifting up to 75 lbs and lifting overhead up to 50 lbs.
