Full Job Description

This is a 1st shift position working 12 hour shifts in the inpatient unit with 12 hours per week. No weekend requirements. The position requires multi tasking and the applicant can be cross-trained to other functions. This position is under the direction and supervision of the Director of Inpatient Services.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
Prior Unit Clerk experience desired
Basic knowledge of medical terminology

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for performing clerical and receptionist duties such as answering the phone and directing calls
Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors
Maintain accurate and updated patient charts and electronic records
Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers in the system
Order and maintain unit supplies and equipment as directed
Collaborate with nurses and healthcare providers to ensure smooth workflow
Monitor and relay messages between physicians, nurses, and other departments
All other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
Basic data entry and computer skills
