Full Job Description

Profile: A Child’s Haven

A Child’s Haven (ACH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of young children who are experiencing developmental delays due to limited resources, abuse, or neglect, and to empowering and educating their families. Through therapeutic treatment, education, and support, ACH aims to help these children thrive and reach their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive community.

Position Purpose

The Child & Family Therapist (CFT) is responsible for providing, documenting and billing for treatment services for children and families enrolled at ACH.

Position Summary

The Child and Family Therapist (CFT) serves as a family’s primary contact with the agency. CFTs are expected to administer, document, and bill for the following core services: Family Therapy and on-campus Individual Therapy to children throughout program enrollment. Other important responsibilities include Diagnostic Assessments, Individual Plan of Care (IPOC) development and management, Medicaid Authorizations and re-authorizations, Medicaid billing, Clinical assessments, treatment planning activities and case management. CFTs are expected to provide services in compliance with A Child’s Haven (ACH) Policies, SCDHHS-Rehabilitative Behavioral Health Services Policies, DSS Child Care Regulations, CARF and any other regulating bodies. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of treatment with children ages 5 and under, elated eligibility and revenue requirements associated with Medicaid and other funding sources.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

· Develops Individual Plan of Care (IPOC) to include individual treatment goals and objectives inclusive of social, emotional and behavioral development, and in accordance with developmentally appropriate practice, to help guide interventions in TCC, Individual Therapy and Family Therapy services.

· Manage a designated caseload and deliver, document, and bill for a required number of Family and Individual Psychotherapysessions.

· IPOCs are written according to SCDHHS and ACH standards in collaboration with parents/caregivers, TCC Group Treatment providers, and any other external service providers.

· Develops IPOC individual treatment goals and objectives inclusive of social, emotional and behavioral development, and in accordance with developmentally appropriate practice, to help guide interventions in TCC, Individual Therapy and Family Therapy services.

· Completes client intake and enrollment documentation according to SCDHHS and ACH standards

· Ensures compliance in receiving required hours of clinical supervision, ACH required trainings, 15 annual Endeavors hours

· Ensures fidelity to evidence-based program model adopted by agency

· Completes IPOC reviews, Progress Summary Reviews, Addendums and Reauthorizations according to SCDHHS, and ACH standards.

· Coordinates transition and discharge planning according to ACH policy and procedures; complies with SCDHHS requirements

· Provides individual and family therapy and teaches behavior management skills and positive parenting techniques

· Prepares and participates in Service Plan Delivery (SPD) meetings, called Treatment Team Meetings, where client progress is discussed as a team

· Manages and coordinates the individual treatment needs of the children on your caseload with classroom staff.

· Manages and maintains licensure and clinical supervision requirements or actively seeks the same

· Meets program due dates and accurate timely submissions of all documentation: clinical services notes, IPOCs, Reviews, client contacts, referrals, expense repor

· Submit well-written objective documentation of clinical intervention and observations in accordance to SCDHHS, and ACH standards within required time frames.

· Protects child and family rights to privacy and confidentiality, especially in relation to the communication of information with third parties.

· Understands Medicaid and grant program requirements for the provision of services and meets the standards set for units of service delivered and number of participants served.

· Demonstrates effective communication and leadership for support, coaching and shared responsibilities with parents, co-workers, transportation, interns, volunteers and support staff.

· Takes the initiative to share new information with co-workers after attending training outside the agency.

· Coordinates services with other treatment providers.

· Knowledgeable about community resources

· Handle special projects and other duties as requested

Required Education and Experience

· Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology or related area with a minimum of 30 hours in behavioral health, child development coursework/training. Acceptable licensure includes the following: LPC or LPC-A, LMFT or LMFT-A, LISW-CP or LMSW under clinical supervision (see below for full requirements.)

· Meet requirements for SCDHHS Medicaid Rehabilitative Behavioral Health Services and SCDSS child care worker.

· Must complete satisfactory pre-employment drug screening, criminal background, central registry, education/employment and personal reference, and DMV checks; must prove auto insurability and have a valid driver’s license.

· Must have demonstrated excellent collaboration, team effort and communication skills –each important for effective leadership

· LPC or LPC-A, LMFT or LMFT-A, LISW-CP and/or LMSW in Clinical Supervision is preferred.

· Eligible for and willing to pursue licensure in any of the above areas is required.

· Preference given to those with an Independent license. If not licensed on an independent level, must be actively in clinical supervision to obtain independent license.

· Current driver’s license and proof of insurability

· Pass background check and fingerprinting as required

Required Skills and Competencies

· Preference given to those rostered in TF-CBT or PCIT

· English speaking; Bilingual in English and Spanish applicants preferred

· Strong organizational and time-management skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and internet-based programs

· Supervisory or mentoring experience for being assigned as Classroom or intern mentoring.

· Must be able to travel for weekly home visits, meetings and occasional overnight training

· Demonstrated writing skills that will meet clinical submittal standards.

· English speaking; Bilingual in English and Spanish applicants preferred

Work Environment

This position's duties are performed in an office setting within a therapeutic childcare center including playgrounds and outdoor learning environments.
