Full Job Description

Join the RTL Operations Team! Rowland Truck Lines has an immediate, full-time opening for a Load Planner/Customer Service Representative in our Dade City, Florida office. Applicants should be self-starters with excellent written and verbal communication skills who enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment. Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications, of which Transportation experience is preferred. Full benefits package (medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, accident, critical illness) offered on the first of the month after 60 days of employment. Paid vacation and 401(k) with company match after 1 year of service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for daily planning and assignment of customer loads to the dispatch team.
Approve or decline CSR submissions for same day and next day customer load offers.
Continual review of inbound/outbound freight, empty/committed truck statuses, and trailer availability to maximize asset utilization.
Coordinate to ensure maximum productivity, customer service and driver satisfaction.
Exceed customers’ on-time service requirements.
Maintain high asset utilization to ensure profitability including deadhead, rate per mile and revenue per truck.
Use negotiation skills to supplement customer freight with brokered loads.
Manage freight within the required HOS and DOT regulations.
Assist with other various duties to ensure Operations success.
On-call every other week after hours for emergencies only.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed:

Knowledge of DOT regulations including hours of services rules with ability to incorporate rules into daily shipment planning.
Knowledge of national, regional, and metropolitan geography and roadways.
Ability to navigate through multiple computer systems.
Ability to work in stressful situations.
Ability to provide effective planning to maximize service and financial performance.
Ability to communicate with internal and external customers and business partners in a professional and respectful manner.
Ability to provide detailed instructions to various personnel via email and phone.
Ability to develop relationships with team members, drivers, management, and internal and external business partners.
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with transportation management systems a plus.
