Full Job Description

Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Assistant/Scheduler, where your energetic approach and attention to detail will make a meaningful difference in patient care. In this vital role, you will be the friendly face and efficient organizer that keeps our medical practice running smoothly. Your expertise in medical procedures, administrative support, and patient interaction will ensure a seamless experience for every individual who walks through our doors. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment dedicated to delivering exceptional healthcare services.

Responsibilities

Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in procedures, including vital signs, patient history intake, and updating medical records
Schedule appointments accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and coordinate with providers to optimize daily clinic flow
Prepare patients for examinations by assisting with basic procedures such as phlebotomy, medication administration, and X-ray preparation when necessary
Manage medical documentation with precision, including ICD coding, medical terminology, and detailed notes to ensure compliance and accuracy
Support clinical staff by maintaining sterile environments, managing supplies, and assisting with procedures in dermatology, urgent care, or hospital medicine settings
Handle patient inquiries professionally via phone or in person, providing clear information about procedures, follow-up care, and appointment scheduling
Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and ensure all electronic health records are updated promptly

Experience

Proven experience working in a medical office environment with a strong foundation in medical administrative support and patient service
Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems for scheduling, documentation, and record management
Hands-on experience in outpatient clinics, hospital settings (including Level I or Level II trauma centers), or emergency medicine environments
Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, ICD coding, and basic life support (BLS) certification preferred
Experience with phlebotomy, X-ray procedures, medication administration, and inpatient or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) experience is highly valued
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining a compassionate approach to patient care
