A well-established transportation and delivery company is seeking an experienced Terminal Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a busy transportation terminal.
This is a hands-on management position responsible for drivers, helpers, warehouse personnel, daily route execution, safety, staffing, equipment coordination, policy enforcement, customer service, and overall terminal performance.
We are looking for a strong operational leader who is comfortable holding employees accountable, solving problems in a fast-paced environment, and maintaining high standards for safety, service, productivity, and professionalism.
This is not strictly an office management position. The Terminal Manager is expected to be actively involved in daily operations and maintain a visible leadership presence with employees.
Responsibilities
- Manage the overall day-to-day operation of the terminal.
- Supervise drivers, helpers, warehouse employees, and other assigned personnel.
- Ensure daily routes are properly staffed, dispatched, and completed.
- Respond to call-outs, staffing shortages, equipment problems, late departures, freight issues, and other operational challenges.
- Monitor route performance and address service failures, delays, or operational concerns.
- Coordinate drivers, helpers, equipment, and freight based on daily operational needs.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and operating standards.
- Coach and hold employees accountable for attendance, performance, safety, conduct, and productivity.
- Document employee coaching, policy violations, and disciplinary matters when required.
- Monitor driver safety performance and ensure required coaching and corrective actions are completed.
- Enforce safe-driving expectations involving speeding, distracted driving, cellphone use, seatbelts, following distance, stop signs, backing, and vehicle inspections.
- Ensure drivers and employees follow required safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
- Support DOT, OSHA, and company compliance requirements.
- Ensure accidents, injuries, equipment damage, and other incidents are immediately reported and properly documented.
- Assist management with accident, injury, safety, and operational investigations when required.
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized warehouse, dock, yard, and terminal areas.
- Ensure unsafe equipment is reported and removed from service when necessary.
- Coordinate vehicle, trailer, and equipment repair needs with appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accountability for company vehicles, trailers, scanners, fuel cards, keys, load securement equipment, and other company property.
- Assist with employee onboarding, orientation, training, and development.
- Monitor employee attendance and address attendance or staffing concerns.
- Assist with interviewing and staffing when necessary.
- Investigate customer service issues, freight discrepancies, damages, missed deliveries, and other service concerns.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with senior management.
- Complete required operational, safety, employee, and compliance documentation.
- Identify recurring operational problems and implement corrective actions.
- Lead by example and promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and professionalism.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs.

- Experience directly managing drivers and operational employees preferred.
- Strong understanding of daily route and delivery operations.
- Ability to effectively supervise employees and consistently enforce company policies.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing operational needs.
- Basic computer and technology skills.
- Experience with fleet telematics, driver monitoring, or safety/coaching platforms is a plus.
- Samsara experience is a major plus.
- Commercial driving experience and/or a Class A CDL is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position includes both administrative and hands-on operational responsibilities.
The Terminal Manager must be comfortable working in office, warehouse, loading dock, yard, and transportation environments.
The position may require:

- Working in varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
- Bending, reaching, climbing, and performing other normal movements associated with transportation and warehouse operations.
- Occasionally assisting with freight, equipment, or other operational activities.
- Working flexible hours or responding outside normal business hours when operational needs require it.
What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who can:
- Lead employees while maintaining accountability.
- Set clear expectations and follow through.
