The Role

The Recruiter functions as a senior consultant with oversight and executional responsibility for the entire senior executive recruitment process, inclusive of project management (internal and external) and high level client relationship management. New business development activity is both encouraged and mentored.

Primary Responsibilities

Search Launch and Recruiting

In addition to approaching, recruiting, and sourcing executives for prospective candidate ideas, the Recruiter provides strategic direction for search assignments, including the development and implementation of research plans and target lists.

Early Candidate Development

The Recruiter is responsible for the initial telephone screening to evaluate the skill set, abilities, cultural fit, and interest level of each prospective candidate and to develop them for subsequent personal interview. Sourcing and additional research will be needed to develop strong candidate flow. Throughout the process, the Recruiter is responsible for updating the Partner on recruiting activity and for presenting candidates as they are identified and vetted.

Client Development

During the course of developing a client, the Recruiter may be asked to participate in a business development meeting with a Partner. As part of his/her development, he/she may be asked to write and/or review a position profile for a new search activity booked as a result of the business development meeting.

Client Management

By nature of his/her focus on candidate development, the Recruiter has valuable information about specific candidates and the scope of research and recruiting. Whenever possible, he/she participates with the Partner in teleconferences discussing specific candidates and the progress of the search. He/she ensures that information sent to clients is complete and accurate and properly reflects the client’s needs.

Advanced Candidate Development

As part of his/her ongoing training and development, a Recruiter may accompany a Partner to a candidate interview in order to obtain the necessary information for a detailed evaluation of the candidate’s background and relevance for the position. The Recruiter may also be asked to write candidate evaluations and to coach both clients and candidates through the search process.

References | Contract Negotiation

Reference checks and final offers generally occur simultaneously as the final steps in the search process. A Recruiter may assist a Partner in the reference-checking process and may be asked to write formal reference reports. As part of this process, a seasoned Recruiter may be asked to discover the basic compensation requirements of the finalist to assist in the development of an offer.

Business Development

Any new business opportunities discovered by a Recruiter in the course of search execution should be discussed with the most appropriate Partner.

Qualifications

BA/BS required
4+ years of professional experience, including tenure within retained executive search
Experience recruiting senior candidates within the Life Sciences sector; knowledge of all areas within Life Sciences would be a plus
Experience conducting retained executive searches from start to finish
