Position Title

Senior Tax Accountant

Location

Fredrick, MD

Firm Overview

A respected independent CPA firm in MD is looking to hire a Senior Tax Accountant to support its expanding client portfolio. The firm has built a strong reputation across the local market, working closely with privately owned businesses, real estate investors, family-owned companies, and high-net-worth individuals. The environment offers close partner interaction, flexible working arrangements, and genuine long-term career development.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review business and individual tax returns
Provide tax planning and advisory support to privately held clients
Work directly with clients to resolve tax notices and compliance issues
Assist with quarterly and year-end tax projections
Review bookkeeping and financial information to ensure accurate tax filings
Mentor junior accountants and review staff work where appropriate
Research tax issues and communicate findings clearly to clients and leadership
Maintain strong client relationships through a high level of personalised service

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA preferred or in progress
4+ years of public accounting tax experience
Experience with S-Corps, partnerships, and individual taxation
Strong client communication skills
Ability to manage multiple engagements independently
Familiarity with UltraTax, Drake, or similar software preferred

Preferred Background

Experience working within a regional or local CPA firm
Exposure to real estate and closely held business clients
Comfortable working directly with business owners
