The Joint Customer Service Lobby is a collaborative partnership between the Clark County Assessor, Auditor, and Treasurer offices. It provides residents with a streamlined and supportive experience for various essential government services. We are seeking candidates who are passionate about public service, excel at customer service and interpersonal communication, thrive in a fast-paced, team-based environment, are eager to learn and apply state and local government policies and procedures, and are motivated to grow and succeed in a career-oriented role.
As a Customer Service Specialist I, you will perform a wide variety of administrative and customer service duties. This is an entry-level position within a structured career progression path (Customer Service Specialist I–III), offering growth and advancement based on your dedication and performance. Most new hires are expected to advance to Customer Service Specialist II within 12–18 months.
You will begin in your “home” office—the Assessor’s Office—and, once you are confident in those responsibilities, receive cross-training in both the Auditor’s and Treasurer’s Office. This is a Local 11 position.
One to two years of related work experience required. Experience working in a high volume, direct customer contact service environment preferred.
Experience processing technical work such as interpretation and explanation of complex regulations to customers preferred. Associate’s degree in business or related field preferred.
Other combinations of education, training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
Knowledge of:
General office procedures and best practices in a public service environment
Proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and standard formatting in written communication
Clerical procedures related to document processing, data entry, and administrative support
Filing and records management systems
Business English for professional communication
Common PC applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and database software
Basic bookkeeping and/or cashiering procedures (as required by the position)
Ability to:
Operate standard office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, copiers, fax machines) efficiently
Exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within defined guidelines and procedures
Remain calm and professional while resolving challenging or emotionally charged customer interactions

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Customer Service Specialist performs a variety of administrative and customer service tasks to support the daily operations of the office. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administrative Support
Provides general administrative support using computer software and office equipment
Prepares and completes routine forms, reports, correspondence, requisitions, and other documents using word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
Proofreads documents for formatting, grammar, and accuracy
Retrieves data from computer systems and compiles routine reports from various sources
Operates standard and specialized office equipment with accuracy and sound judgment
Assists in the creation and maintenance of technical and general office files and records
Ensures record retention schedules are followed and filing systems remain organized and up-to-date
Orders, maintains, and inventories office supplies and materials
Customer Service
Serves customers in-person, by phone, and via email with professionalism and courtesy
Provides information and assistance related to departmental services, processes, and regulations
Completes and mails routine form letters of acknowledgment, notification, or inquiry
Assists customers with transactions, applications, and inquiries, using a clear and informed communication style
Cashiering and Financial Duties
Performs cash handling duties including collecting payments, issuing receipts, and reconciling daily transactions
Balances assigned cash drawer and prepares daily deposits in accordance with established procedures
Office and Operational Support
Receives, sorts, and distributes mail, records, and supplies
Provides internal courier/messenger service within or between departments as needed
Schedules meetings, makes room reservations, and coordinates logistics for internal and public-facing events
Sets up rooms and equipment for meetings and functions
Performs related duties as assigned to support team and departmental objectives

Provides administrative support using computer software skills.
- Uses computer software applications and equipment to prepare and complete routine forms, reports, correspondence, requisitions, tabulations and other materials from copy, rough draft; proofreads documents for typing and format errors.
- Operates equipment used in the offices served where extensive prior training is not required and operation can be learned in a short period of time; uses word processing, spreadsheet and database PC applications; and/or operates other specialized office equipment with accuracy, skill, and independent judgement.
- Retrieves data from computer database applications and may compile routine reports from various data sources.
- Receives and sorts mail by addresses or other clearly defined systems; distributes mail, office records and supplies; performs messenger service within or between departments or offices.
- Compiles, verifies, posts and maintains information from data collected and maintained by the work unit.
- Completes and mails routine form letters of acknowledgment, notification and inquiry.
- Assists in the establishment and maintenance of general and technical files and records.
- Assures that record disposition schedules are adhered to and that files are kept orderly and current.
- Serves customers in-person, via phone and email.
- Cashiering and cash handling, including balancing daily receipts, preparing bank deposits, and managing an assigned drawer.
- Orders and maintains stocks, supplies and inventories.
- Schedules meetings, makes room arrangements and sends out schedule changes and notices. Coordinates (or assists with coordinating) functions and activities; sets up rooms and equipment required.
