Full Job Description

Experienced Prep Cook

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Prep Cook with strong knife skills and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen. The ideal candidate works efficiently, follows recipes accurately, and consistently meets food-quality and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

Wash, peel, cut, slice, dice, mince, and portion ingredients accurately and efficiently.
Demonstrate safe, professional knife handling and proper cutting techniques.
Prepare meats, seafood, vegetables, sauces, dressings, and other ingredients according to recipes and production lists.
Maintain consistent portion sizes and presentation standards.
Clean and sanitize knives, cutting boards, utensils, equipment, prep tables, floors, sinks, and storage areas.
Prevent cross-contamination by following proper food-handling and allergen procedures.
Label, date, rotate, and store food using FIFO procedures.
Monitor ingredient freshness and report shortages or quality concerns.
Remove trash, wash dishes, and assist with opening and closing cleaning duties.
Follow all health department, food-safety, and workplace-safety requirements.
Support cooks and kitchen leadership during busy service periods.

Qualifications

Previous professional prep-cook or kitchen experience required.
Excellent knife skills, including safe and consistent chopping, slicing, dicing, mincing, and julienne cuts.
Strong knowledge of kitchen sanitation, cross-contamination prevention, and food-storage procedures.
Ability to follow recipes, measurements, and verbal instructions accurately.
Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, including around heat, water, and cleaning chemicals.
