Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Meat & Seafood Butcher, where you will be at the forefront of food preparation and customer service in a fast-paced retail environment. Your expertise in meat and seafood processing, combined with your passion for quality and safety, will ensure our products meet the highest standards. You will skillfully handle perishable goods, operate meat processing machinery, and assist customers with knowledgeable recommendations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary skills while maintaining a focus on food safety and sanitation.

Duties

Prepare and cut a variety of meats and seafood using precise butchery techniques, including trimming, slicing, and portioning to meet customer specifications.
Operate meat processing machines safely and efficiently, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to safety protocols.
Maintain cleanliness by following strict sanitizing procedures for all equipment, work surfaces, and storage areas to uphold food safety standards.
Package products attractively and accurately for retail display or customer take-home needs, ensuring proper labeling and freshness.
Conduct visual inspections for quality control, checking for freshness, proper color, texture, and signs of spoilage or contamination.
Manage perishable goods by monitoring storage temperatures, rotating stock, and minimizing waste through effective inventory practices.
Provide exceptional customer service by offering product knowledge, answering questions about cuts of meat or seafood, and assisting with special requests or dietary needs.

Qualifications

Proven experience in food production, food preparation, or retail store environments with a focus on meat or seafood handling.
Skilled in meat cutting techniques such as trimming, slicing, and portioning; experience with fish handling is a plus.
Familiarity with food safety management systems, sanitizing procedures, and proper food handling practices.
Ability to operate meat processing machinery safely and efficiently; basic knife skills are essential.
Strong attention to detail for visual inspection of quality control and food safety compliance.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate product information clearly and professionally.
Basic math skills for portioning, weighing, and inventory management; previous kitchen or culinary experience is advantageous.
