Pediatrician Opportunity
Vighter is seeking a Board-Certified Pediatric Physician (Pediatrician) to provide comprehensive pediatric care at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC) in Fort Hood, Texas.
This is a 1099 federal healthcare contract opportunity supporting military families and other eligible beneficiaries in a multidisciplinary Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
The Pediatrician will provide a broad range of pediatric services, including outpatient care, newborn care, inpatient and emergency consultations, nursery admissions, delivery attendance, newborn resuscitation, and hospital call.
Key Responsibilities & Scope of Care
- · Provide comprehensive pediatric care to infants, children, and adolescents
- · Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic pediatric conditions
- · Develop treatment plans and provide preventive care, education, and counseling
- · Provide newborn and well-baby care, including resuscitation of critically ill term and preterm infants
- · Provide pediatric Emergency Department consultations, inpatient and nursery admissions, and delivery attendance
- · Order diagnostic tests, coordinate specialty referrals, and support continuity of care
- · Rotate within Family Medicine Primary Care clinics as directed
- · Assist with clinical instruction of healthcare professionals and students within granted privileges
- · Maintain accurate EHR documentation and participate in quality assurance and professional review activities
- · Provide care for a broad range of pediatric conditions, including infectious, allergic, metabolic, neurological, endocrine, cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, hematologic, renal, musculoskeletal, behavioral, trauma, burn, and foreign-body cases
- · Maintain high standards of care consistent with DHA, CRDAMC, Joint Commission, and applicable clinical requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- · Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a qualifying/accredited medical school
- · International medical graduates must meet applicable ECFMG certification requirements
- · Must be currently board certified by one of the following: American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), or American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics (AOBP)
- · Minimum 1 year of post-residency clinical experience within the last 3 years providing direct patient care in Pediatrics
- · Completion of a 3-year ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency Program, during which the physician practiced under clinical supervision for all three years, may be considered acceptable experience for meeting this requirement
- · Must demonstrate recent hands-on proficiency evaluating, diagnosing, and managing infants, children, and adolescents across a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions
- · Must demonstrate competency in comprehensive pediatric examinations, treatment planning, age-appropriate interventions, and multidisciplinary care coordination
Licensure & Certifications
- · Current, active, and unrestricted medical license meeting applicable contract requirements
- · BLS – required
- · PALS – required
- · NRP – required
- · Must maintain all certifications, training, and credentials necessary for assigned clinical privileges
Schedule & Duty Hours
CRDAMC is a 24/7 Military Treatment Facility, and schedule flexibility is required.
- · Work may be scheduled Sunday through Saturday
- · Scheduled duty hours may fall between approximately 5:30 AM and 11:00 PM
- · Shifts are normally scheduled for up to 12 hours but may be scheduled for up to 16 hours
- · Schedule may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, training holidays, and federal holidays
- · A mandatory unpaid meal break of up to 60 minutes may apply
- · Physicians may be required to provide services beyond 40 hours per week based on mission requirements
- · Actual schedules are determined by the Government supervisor or designated representative and may be adjusted based on operational needs
On-Call Requirements
- · On-call will be included as part of the position
- · Physicians will participate in hospital call rotation with other physicians
- · Call coverage may include weekdays, nights, weekends, training holidays, and federal holidays
Contract & Compensation
- · Pay Range: $155.00–$174.00 per hour
- · 1099 Independent Contractor
- · Approximately 30–40+ hours per week

- · Potential contract extensions up to 2 years
- · Final rate within the posted range will be based on qualifications, experience, and applicable contract requirements
