Position Summary
The Director of Marketing is the organization's senior marketing leader and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role responsible for owning the organization's entire marketing function, from strategy through execution.
As a department of one, the Director develops and executes initiatives that increase brand awareness, referral growth, patient engagement, and community partnerships. This role leads physician and referral development, school and community outreach, digital marketing, branding, content creation, social media, events, public relations, website management, and marketing analytics.
The ideal candidate is an experienced behavioral health marketer who understands the unique referral networks, patient populations, and compliance requirements within behavioral healthcare. They are a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys wearing multiple hats, and is motivated by ownership, accountability, and measurable results.
Role Expectations
This role is ideal for an entrepreneurial marketing professional who enjoys building and growing a marketing function independently. While there are no direct reports, the Director serves as the organization's marketing leader and strategic advisor.
The successful candidate will:
- Develop and execute the organization's marketing strategy.
- Build and strengthen referral relationships with physicians, behavioral health providers, hospitals, schools, and community organizations.
- Create and manage digital marketing campaigns, website content, social media, email marketing, and marketing collateral.
- Plan and coordinate community outreach, educational presentations, sponsorships, and networking events.
- Monitor marketing performance, referral trends, and campaign effectiveness using data to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage external vendors and marketing partners as needed.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO and organizational leaders to support strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Marketing
- Develop and implement marketing plans aligned with organizational growth goals.
- Strengthen the organization's brand across all service lines.
- Manage the marketing budget and evaluate return on investment.
- Identify new opportunities to increase referrals, patient engagement, and market presence.
Referral Development & Community Engagement
- Build referral relationships with healthcare providers, behavioral health professionals, hospitals, schools, colleges, and community organizations.
- Coordinate educational presentations, networking events, and outreach initiatives.
- Develop referral resources and marketing materials that support business development.
Digital Marketing & Content
- Lead digital marketing initiatives, including website management, SEO, email marketing, paid advertising, online reputation management, and social media.
- Create engaging content, including blogs, newsletters, educational materials, videos, provider spotlights, and patient success stories in compliance with HIPAA.
- Ensure brand consistency across all communications.
Analytics & Performance
- Track and report key marketing metrics, including referral growth, website traffic, lead generation, social media engagement, conversion rates, patient acquisition costs, and campaign ROI.
- Prepare executive reports with recommendations to improve marketing performance.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive marketing experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of behavioral health marketing experience in mental health, psychiatry, psychology, addiction treatment, or related behavioral healthcare services.
- Demonstrated success growing physician and community referral networks within behavioral healthcare.
- Experience independently managing a comprehensive marketing function from strategy through execution.
- Strong digital marketing, content development, CRM, analytics, and project management experience.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare marketing compliance.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred
- Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or Marketing).
- Experience supporting a growing or multi-site behavioral health organization.
- Experience launching new programs or service lines.

Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based with regular travel throughout the service area to physician offices, behavioral health providers, hospitals, schools, and community organizations. Some evening and occasional weekend work is required to support outreach events and community engagement.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
