Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Medical Assistant specializing in Psychiatry to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive support to mental health providers, ensuring smooth clinical operations and exceptional patient care. Your enthusiasm and proactive approach will help create a welcoming environment for patients experiencing mental health challenges, while your expertise in medical procedures and documentation will uphold the highest standards of clinical excellence. Duties

Assist psychiatric providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and maintaining a professional, empathetic demeanor.
Perform basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, and sample collection following proper protocols.
Support administrative functions by managing medical records, updating patient information, and assisting with ICD coding for billing purposes.
Assist with medication reconciliation, inventory management of pharmaceuticals, and ensuring proper storage according to safety standards.
Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols and hospital safety regulations.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Medical Assistant with a focus on Psychiatry or related fields such as Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, or Emergency Medicine.
Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and ICD coding to ensure precise documentation and patient care.
Hands-on experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platforms for efficient data entry and management.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as Phlebotomy or Medical Assisting credentials are highly preferred.
Strong patient service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations compassionately while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
Familiarity with urgent care settings or clinic environments that involve rapid patient turnover and diverse medical needs.
