About Northern Montana Hospital

Northern Montana Hospital (NMH) is the center of a comprehensive system of medical and health care services, staffed with a team of caring professionals who are dedicated to meeting the growing needs of our Hi-Line communities. The not-for-profit, 25-bed Critical Access Hospital features a 24-hour physician-staffed emergency department, with state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and electronic medical record services. Our large, quiet labor/birthing rooms are private and located away from other patient care areas. The private patient rooms on the 5th floor Medical/Surgical Department boast views from every window.

Administration, staff, and medical providers are committed to delivering high quality, comprehensive health care services to the people of the Hi-Line communities of Montana.

Specialties of our active staff of doctors include Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Hematology, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Optometry, Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, Pain Management, Pathology, Podiatry, Psychiatry, Psychology, Radiology and Women’s Health.

For the convenience of our patients, we also host visiting physicians at our clinics in the areas of:

About the role

The Assistant Director of Clinic Nursing plays a key leadership role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient centered care across outpatient settings. This position collaborates with the Director of Clinic Nursing to oversee daily clinical operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote evidence-based practice while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and professional development among clinical staff. Responsibilities included supervising clinical personnel, optimizing workflows, managing budgets and resources, and implementing quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction. The Assistant Director also serves as a liaison between clinic leadership, providers, and interdisciplinary teams, helping to drive strategic goals, support staff engagement, and ensure consistent standards of care across all clinic sites.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a health related field or RN with a minimum of 12 months experience in health care setting OR Associate’s degree in health related field or LPN with a minimum of 36 months experience in health care setting.
Ability to work independently and exercise clinical judgment in interactions with Physicians, payers, patients and their families. Resourcefulness in problem solving.
Strong organizational and time management skills, as evidenced by a capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and role components.
Strong proven analytical and data management skills.
Aware of scope of practice boundaries, comfortable seeking direction and assistance from appropriate resources.
Communication – Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Excellent negotiation skills.
Computer Skills – Proficient ability to use a computer and electronic medical record. Beginner to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft applications: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
Confidentiality – Maintain patient, team member and employer confidentiality. Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines. Comply with all HIPAA regulations.
Customer Service Oriented – Friendly, cheerful and helpful to patients and others. Ability to meet patients and others needs while following office policies and procedures. Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and strong cultural competency.
Delegating – Able to take and follow through with delegated tasks and accountability. Ability to allocate authority and/or task responsibility to appropriate team members, peers or superiors.
Flexibility – Ability to adapt easily to changing conditions and work responsibilities.
