Adult Corrections Officer Recruit (Paid Training | State of Hawai‘i)

Start a meaningful career in public safety with the State of Hawai‘i Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. As an Adult Corrections Officer Recruit, you will play a critical role in maintaining safety, supporting rehabilitation, and helping individuals successfully reenter the community.

What You’ll Do:

Maintain safety, security, and order within correctional facilities
Supervise individuals in custody and monitor daily activities
Enforce rules, conduct searches, and respond to emergencies
Promote positive behavior and support rehabilitation efforts
Progress from training into independent post assignments

Training & Career Growth:

Paid training and structured onboarding
Promotion to Adult Corrections Officer III after probation and service requirements
Ongoing training and advancement opportunities within state service

Compensation & Benefits:

Competitive monthly salary with step increases

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
One year of work experience demonstrating communication and responsibility
Valid driver’s license
U.S. work authorization
Must be at least 21 years old by completion of training
Ability to pass background check, drug screening, physical fitness test, and psychological evaluation

Work Environment:

Rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Overtime may be required
Physically active, team-oriented environment
