Full Job Description

About the Role

At Vista Social, we’re looking for an experienced Technical Customer Support Representative who enjoys solving problems, investigating issues, and helping customers succeed with our platform.

Shift hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm HST (Hawaii)

This role goes beyond responding to tickets. You’ll work directly with customers to diagnose complex issues, uncover root causes, and guide them toward the best solutions. That may mean troubleshooting technical workflows, identifying product bugs, or helping customers better understand how to use Vista Social effectively.

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys investigating problems deeply and thinking through solutions, rather than simply following predefined support scripts.

You’ll regularly conduct 1:1 video sessions with customers, collaborate with our product and engineering teams when deeper issues arise, and contribute to improving our documentation and support processes.

We’re looking for someone who is naturally curious, thinks critically, and takes ownership of problems rather than simply escalating them. The best candidates for this role enjoy digging into how systems work, spotting patterns across customer issues, and helping improve both the customer experience and the product itself.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Problem Ownership: Take full ownership of customer issues from first contact to resolution. Go beyond answering questions by deeply understanding the underlying problem, identifying root causes, and ensuring customers leave with clear, confident solutions.
Technical Investigation & Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex product issues by investigating logs, reproducing edge cases, and systematically narrowing down root causes. Apply structured problem-solving rather than surface-level fixes.
Critical Thinking in Customer Support: Evaluate situations independently and make sound judgment calls when processes or documentation don’t provide clear answers. Balance speed, accuracy, and customer impact when determining the right path forward
Bug Identification & Product Collaboration: Identify potential product defects or inconsistencies and document them clearly with reproducible steps, context, and impact. Partner closely with product and engineering teams to ensure issues are understood and resolved.
Pattern Recognition & Insight Generation: Look beyond individual tickets to identify recurring issues, product friction points, or gaps in documentation. Proactively surface trends and recommend improvements to reduce support load and improve the product experience.
Customer Education & Training: Conduct 1:1 video sessions with customers to troubleshoot issues, demonstrate product workflows, and help customers get meaningful value from the platform.
Knowledge Base & Documentation: Continuously improve the help center by creating and updating clear, practical resources based on real customer questions and support patterns.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the voice of the customer by sharing insights with product, engineering, and leadership teams to help improve product usability and reduce recurring support issues.
Support Channel Expansion: Adapt to evolving support channels (email, video, potential phone support) while maintaining high standards of clarity, professionalism, and customer care.

What We’re Looking For

Experience: Someone who’s worked in customer support within a SaaS or technical environment, with demonstrated experience handling complex product issues rather than only high-volume ticket queues.
Analytical Problem Solving: Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to diagnose issues methodically, investigate root causes, and evaluate multiple possible explanations before arriving at a solution.
Technical Troubleshooting: Comfortable investigating software issues by reproducing bugs, analyzing workflows, isolating variables, and clearly documenting findings for engineering teams.
Independent Judgment: Able to make thoughtful decisions in ambiguous situations where documentation or playbooks don’t provide a clear answer. Knows when to escalate and when to confidently move forward.
Clear Communication: Excellent written and verbal English. Able to translate complex technical concepts into simple explanations for non-technical customers.
Customer Presence: Comfortable conducting live video sessions with customers and representing the company with professionalism, clarity, and confidence.
Systems Thinking: Ability to recognize patterns across support cases, identify recurring product friction, and proactively suggest improvements to documentation, workflows, or product behavior.
Remote Ownership: Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage priorities, and take full ownership of customer issues without close supervision
Curiosity & Learning Mindset: Naturally curious about how systems work and motivated to deeply understand the product, not just follow scripts or predefined processes.
AI Tooling & Prompt Workflows: Hands-on experience using tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or similar AI systems to improve personal productivity, research, troubleshooting, or workflow automation.
Technical Curiosity: Experience experimenting with APIs, integrations, automation tools (Zapier, Make, etc.), or lightweight scripting to improve internal processes.

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

Experience with the following is a strong plus:

AI & Automation for Support Efficiency: Experience designing or implementing AI-assisted workflows, automations, or agents that improve support efficiency while preserving a high-quality human customer experience.
Vibe Coding / AI-Assisted Development: Comfort using AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools to create small scripts, internal tools, or workflow automations.
