Physician--Urgent care/Emergency Medicine - MD/DO
Makana North Shore Urgent Care
Princeville, HI 96722
Pay: Competitive hourly rate, based on experience
Schedule: Per diem, P/T, F/T, shift-based

Practice medicine on Kauaʻi's North Shore — home to world-class surf breaks, legendary hiking (Nāpali Coast, Kalalau Trail), and a close-knit community. Makana North Shore Urgent Care is seeking a compassionate, clinically strong physician (MD/DO) with urgent care or emergency medicine experience to join our independent clinic. This role offers flexible scheduling, competitive pay, and the chance to deliver hands-on, community-focused care in one of Hawaiʻi's most sought-after locations.

This position is ideal for a physician seeking supplemental work, flexible per diem shifts, or expanded hours during peak seasonal volume. Additional shifts may become available to support clinic growth and coverage needs.

On-site X-ray and point-of-care lab testing for fast, efficient diagnosis and treatment
On-site dermatology services
Average volume of ~30 patients per day — busy enough to stay sharp, manageable enough to practice thoughtful medicine

What You'll Do

Independently evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages with acute illnesses, injuries, and urgent medical concerns
Obtain histories and perform physical exams; order and interpret labs, imaging, and point-of-care testing
Perform minor procedures, including wound repair, incision and drainage, splinting, foreign body removal, and minor dermatologic procedures
Prescribe medications and provide clear discharge instructions and follow-up plans
Collaborate with nursing staff, medical assistants, x-ray personnel, and clinic leadership in a fast-paced walk-in setting
Optionally contribute to workflow improvement, quality initiatives, and clinical protocol development as part of a small, close-knit team

Qualifications

Current Hawaiʻi physician license (or eligibility to obtain)
Board certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or related specialty
Active DEA registration
BLS and ACLS certification
Minimum 2 years of urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or acute care experience preferred
Strong procedural skills and independent clinical decision-making
Comfort interpreting x-rays, EKGs, and point-of-care testing
