Full Job Description

Overview:

Roots Reborn seeks a dedicated and compassionate Caseworker to join our team in providing comprehensive support and advocacy services to Maui’s immigrant community. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by immigrants and those displaced by disaster, possess strong communication skills in Spanish for translation and interpretation, and demonstrate a strong commitment to serving our clients and community.

This position requires a commitment to social justice and advocacy, the ability to collaborate effectively with a growing, mission-driven team, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and proficiency with computers and case management software.

Candidates who are members of the communities we serve are especially encouraged to apply, as a deep understanding of the community’s needs and perspectives is particularly important for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Support: Provide direct assistance to immigrant individuals and families, offering guidance, support, and resources to navigate the complexities of the effect of the Lahaina wildfires.
Case Management: Assist in accessing appropriate resources and referrals within the community.
Advocacy and Empowerment: Serve as a passionate advocate for the immigrant community, actively promoting their rights and fostering empowerment through service.
Cultural Competence: Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and understanding while working with diverse populations, ensuring services are tailored to meet the unique cultural and linguistic needs of clients.
Collaboration: Collaborate with external agencies, and community partners to coordinate services, learn, and share resources benefiting the immigrant community.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documentation, and reports in compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

Experience working with immigrant populations, understanding of immigration processes, and familiarity with social service systems.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
Strong computer skills, ability to type and work with case management software
Ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Proficient or native speaker in Spanish commonly spoken within the immigrant community is highly desirable.
Knowledge of Maui's local resources and community networks is a plus.
Commitment to social justice, empathy, and cultural competence.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit for extended periods of time and work at a computer.
Occasional lifting of office supplies and equipment (up to 25 pounds).

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment. The role may require occasional travel for meetings or events.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
