Full Job Description

Golden Harbor Healthcare is looking for someone with a minimum of 1 year experience as a Cook in a skilled nursing facility or healthcare facility

ON - CALL AND FULL TIME POSITIONS OPEN

Requirements and Qualifications:

Must hold a CA food handler certification
Must be SafeServ certified
Must have at least 1 full year of experience cooking in a HEALTHCARE facility.
Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must be knowledgeable of food services practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing food services functions in nursing care facilities.
Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Food Services Department.
Maintain professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare all food according to the menu in a safe, sanitary manner under the direction of the dining services manager.
Ensure proper preparation, portioning, and serving of feeds according to standardized recipes.
Prepare quality food products according to standardized recipes and menus.
Adhere to all safety and sanitation standards.
Prepare food in a timely manner at specified meal times.
Follow department procedures and storage of all dishes, utensils and cooking equipment.
Ensure all food in refrigerator, freezer, and dry storage are labeled and dated.
Oversee proper food handling and utilization of all foods to prevent contamination, increase quality and reduce cost.
Suggest menu or recipe changes to utilize leftovers and other supplies.
Clean all food service equipment, kitchen and food storage areas.

Physical Capacities: (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Possible bending, squatting, twisting and reaching
Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility
Must be able to stand for and walk for extended periods of time
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position

Environmental Conditions: Inside work, normal kitchen temperatures, noise, and fumes/odors, minimal potential exposure to bodily fluids.
