Buyer

Location: Cincinnati, OH
Job Type: 6+ Month Contract (Potential for Extension)
Salary: $60,000–$80,000 annually (based on experience)
Start Date: Immediate Opening

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to support a growing manufacturing organization by sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, equipment, and services. This position plays a critical role in maintaining efficient supply chain operations through strategic purchasing, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and possesses strong negotiation and communication skills. This individual will work closely with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure quality materials are delivered on time while maintaining cost-effective purchasing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Source, evaluate, and purchase materials, equipment, and services to support manufacturing operations.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, competitive pricing, and on-time delivery.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings and maximize value.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing activities to maintain adequate stock while minimizing excess inventory.
Research and qualify new suppliers and alternative sourcing opportunities.
Partner with Engineering, Production, Operations, and Project Management teams to support production schedules and business objectives.
Track supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, pricing, or service.
Create and maintain purchase orders, procurement records, and vendor documentation.
Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable government regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
2–5 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Strong negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to reduce costs and improve supplier performance.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience using ERP systems and procurement software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of government contracting requirements, including FAR/DFARS regulations, is a plus.

Additional Requirements

Due to the nature of this position, candidates must be able to obtain access to certain controlled government information. As a result, proof of U.S. citizenship is required, and applicants must not hold dual citizenship. Acceptable documentation includes a valid U.S. Passport, U.S. Birth Certificate, or Naturalization Certificate.
