Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Manager to oversee the sterilization and handling of surgical instruments within a healthcare facility. This leadership role is essential in ensuring the highest standards of infection control, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency in sterile processing services. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of surgical instrument sterilization, management experience, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant environment. As Sterile Processing Manager, you will lead a team dedicated to supporting surgical procedures through meticulous instrument processing, inventory management, and adherence to industry standards.

Duties

Supervise daily sterile processing operations, ensuring all surgical instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for use in accordance with AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) standards and hospital protocols.
Manage inventory control systems to track serialized surgical instruments, ensuring accurate documentation and availability for procedures.
Lead staff training initiatives on aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, infection control regulations, and proper handling of surgical instruments.
Oversee inventory management processes to maintain optimal stock levels, reduce waste, and ensure compliance with hospital regulatory standards.
Implement and monitor sterilization procedures aligned with Aseptic Technique principles and anatomy knowledge to prevent contamination.
Ensure team compliance with hospital policies, infection control regulations, and sterile processing regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular staff performance evaluations, foster team leadership, and promote continuous professional development.
Collaborate with OR (Operating Room) teams to coordinate instrument availability and address any processing issues promptly.
Maintain detailed records of instrument tracking through serialized systems for accountability and traceability.
Participate in audits and quality assurance activities to uphold accreditation standards and improve operational workflows.

Requirements

Proven management experience within sterile processing or related healthcare environment; supervisory experience preferred.
Extensive knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization techniques, and handling protocols.
Familiarity with inventory management systems and inventory control best practices.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and infection control regulations.
Experience with serialized surgical instrument tracking systems is highly desirable.
Knowledge of hospital regulatory compliance standards related to sterile processing.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively and foster a collaborative work environment.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in recordkeeping and process documentation.
Ability to interpret technical guidelines such as AAMI standards and hospital policies related to sterile processing.
