Overview
Our customer is seeking an experienced
3rd Shift Network Evolution Coaxial Cable Splicer to support overnight broadband network upgrade and maintenance projects for a leading communications infrastructure provider.
This role is responsible for performing HFC network upgrades, maintenance, restoration, and network evolution activities during designated maintenance windows. The ideal candidate possesses strong coaxial splicing experience, RF troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to work independently in live network environments while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform coaxial cable splicing on feeder and distribution hardline cable.
- Complete amplifier, line extender, node, and passive device replacements during scheduled maintenance windows.
- Execute Network Evolution upgrades, including node segmentation, plant rearrangements, and network cutovers.
- Prepare, splice, activate, and restore network services within scheduled outage windows.
- Perform RF balancing and signal optimization following equipment replacement.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network impairments including ingress, egress, MER, SNR, tilt, and signal level issues.
- Read and interpret system maps, engineering prints, work packages, and construction documentation.
- Verify service restoration before maintenance windows close.
- Coordinate with Network Operations Center (NOC), Maintenance, Construction, Engineering, and project management teams.
- Document all completed work, test results, and material usage accurately.
- Participate in emergency outage restoration and storm response activities as required.
- Travel extensively to support Network Evolution projects in multiple markets.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of HFC maintenance or coaxial cable splicing experience.
- Experience working on live HFC broadband networks.
- Strong understanding of RF signal flow and network architecture.
- Experience replacing and balancing:
- Amplifiers
- Line Extenders
- System Passives
- Directional Couplers
- Splitters
- Nodes
- Power Supplies
- Ability to read and interpret system maps and engineering prints.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Charter Communications Network Evolution projects.
- Previous MSO experience with Charter, Comcast, Cox, Altice, or Mediacom.
- Experience performing overnight maintenance window cutovers.
- Bucket truck certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- CDL (preferred but not required).
- Fiber optic splicing or troubleshooting experience is a plus.

Schedule
- Full-time
- Third Shift (typically 9:00 PM–7:00 AM; schedule may vary by market)
- Sunday–Thursday or project-specific schedules
- Overtime frequently available
- Weekend work as required
- On-call rotation during major outages
- Extensive travel (up to 100%) based on project needs
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Climb poles, ladders, and bucket trucks.
- Work in underground vaults, pedestals, and aerial plant.
- Perform repetitive bending, kneeling, lifting, and climbing.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
