CAMPUS SAFETY & SECURITY OFFICER

Carter G. Woodson School

Carter G. Woodson School is a non-profit charter school in Winston-Salem, N.C. We serve 500+ students from grades K – 12 each year and support over 80+ staff. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Campus Safety & Security Officer to join our team. The desired candidate will have a passion for education and a willingness to ensure a safe and secure learning environment while maintaining compliance with Safe Schools of North Carolina standards. This role fosters a culture of safety, inclusivity, and restorative justice aligned with the school’s core values. The preferred candidate will communicate in a professional and positive manner at all times with parents, staff, students, school officials, and any other individual they may come in contact with.

Job Type:

Full-time; on campus.

Job Responsibilities:

Conduct regular patrols of the school premises to ensure the security of students, staff, and visitors.
Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to detect any suspicious activity or potential security breaches.
Control access to the school buildings and grounds, ensuring only authorized individuals enter.
Verify the identity of visitors and issue visitor passes as necessary.
Respond promptly to security incidents, disturbances, or emergencies within the school.
Implement emergency procedures and protocols, such as lockdowns or evacuations, in coordination with school administrators and local authorities.
Enforce school policies and regulations related to safety and security.
Address behavioral issues and conflicts among students or staff in a professional and calm manner.
Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and other staff members to maintain a secure and orderly school environment.
Maintain accurate records of security incidents, daily activities, and any unusual occurrences.
Prepare detailed incident reports and submit them to appropriate school personnel.
Participate in training sessions related to security procedures, emergency response, and conflict resolution.
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed or requested by the supervisor to support the department and school’s objectives.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or general educations degree (GED) required.
Ability to pass a background check.
Working knowledge of security techniques.
Must be reliable, proficient, and conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.

Commensurate with experience.
