Position Overview
California Closets is seeking a Cabinet & Closet Installer Helper to assist our professional installation team in delivering high-quality custom storage solutions in residential homes.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in cabinetry, woodworking, finish carpentry, or remodeling who enjoys working with their hands and takes pride in producing clean, detailed work. You will work alongside an experienced Lead Installer while learning the skills necessary to become a professional installer.

What You'll Do
As an Installer Helper, you'll assist with every stage of the installation process, including:
- Load cabinets, shelving, drawer systems, hardware, trim, and installation materials onto company vehicles.
- Unload and organize materials at customer homes while protecting floors, walls, and furniture.
- Review installation drawings and layouts with the Lead Installer before beginning work.
- Measure walls, ceilings, and openings to verify dimensions and ensure a precise fit.
- Assemble cabinet boxes, drawer systems, shelving, and accessories according to specifications.
- Install custom closet systems, wall units, entertainment centers, garage cabinets, pantries, laundry room storage, mudroom lockers, and home office cabinetry.
- Secure cabinets, wall-mounted shelving, hanging systems, and panels to walls using proper fastening methods.
- Cut shelving, fillers, backing, toe kicks, trim, and moldings for custom fitting when necessary.
- Install and adjust cabinet doors, drawers, drawer slides, hinges, shelving, and soft-close hardware.
- Install accessories including valet rods, belt racks, tie racks, jewelry organizers, pull-out baskets, hampers, mirrors, and specialty storage components.
- Assist with installation of integrated lighting systems including LED strip lighting, puck lights, hanging rod lighting, switches, transformers, and wiring connections as directed.
- Use levels, laser levels, squares, tape measures, and other precision tools to ensure cabinets and shelving are level, plumb, square, and properly aligned.
- Operate hand tools and power tools such as drills, drivers, miter saws, circular saws, jig saws, nail guns, routers, and other carpentry equipment safely and effectively.
- Make minor adjustments and field modifications to ensure a professional finished appearance.
- Perform quality checks throughout the installation to ensure doors, drawers, shelving, and hardware operate correctly.
- Clean work areas throughout the installation and remove packaging, debris, and materials upon completion.
- Walk through the completed installation with the Lead Installer to verify quality and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean and organized condition.
- Represent California Closets professionally by communicating courteously and respectfully with homeowners while working inside their homes.
Qualifications
- Experience in cabinetry, woodworking, finish carpentry, remodeling, millwork, furniture installation, or construction trades preferred.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic measurements.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow detailed installation plans and directions.
- Excellent attention to detail with pride in producing clean, high-quality work.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to safety.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced installers.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Professional appearance and customer-service mindset while working in occupied homes.
- Valid driver's license required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and move 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, and working overhead.
- Ability to safely move large cabinet components and shelving materials.
- Comfortable using ladders and working in confined spaces such as closets and pantries.
- Manual dexterity to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment.
- Visual ability to read plans, inspect finished work, and perform precise measurements.
- Ability to work on active installation projects throughout the day.
