About the Role

MedOp Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse for a 12-week night shift assignment in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

This is a busy, high-volume Emergency Department treating a diverse and often high-acuity patient population, including stroke patients, critically ill pediatric patients, and patients from surrounding nursing facilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive ER experience, excellent critical-thinking skills, and the ability to prioritize care effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Emergency Department Overview

44 Emergency Department rooms
Approximately 10 beds/pods assigned to each care team
Average census: Approximately 160 patients per day
Peak census: Approximately 180 patients per day
Typical RN patient ratio: 1:4
Triage ratio: Up to 1:6
Patient population includes:
- Stroke patients
- High-acuity adult emergency patients
- Critically ill pediatric patients
- Patients from surrounding nursing facilities
Collaborative department layout supporting close coordination between RNs, PCTs, physicians, and other clinical staff

Key Responsibilities

Assess, triage, and provide emergency nursing care to adult and pediatric patients
Quickly recognize and respond to changes in patient condition
Provide care for stroke and other high-acuity emergency presentations
Perform ongoing assessments and prioritize care based on patient acuity
Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders
Monitor patients and communicate significant changes to the appropriate clinical team
Collaborate closely with physicians, PCTs, and interdisciplinary team members
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Follow emergency department safety, infection prevention, and quality standards

Required Qualifications

3–5 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
Active Illinois RN License
BLS
ACLS
PALS
CPI
TNCC
NIHSS
Strong emergency assessment, triage, and critical-thinking skills
All required licenses and certifications must be active and in hand at the time of submission

Scheduling & Expectations

12-hour night shifts
36 hours per week
12-week contract
Weekends as needed
Holidays as needed
No floating requirements specified
No on-call requirements

Scheduling Note: The facility is completing an Epic update/go-live in August. Candidates should expect no time off to be approved in August.

Orientation Date: August 26, 2026
12 hours of orientation
6 hours non-billable
