PREP COOK
Cooks at The Southerner run a wide range of backgrounds. Qualified cooks should be passionate about our guests experience and the great traditions of professional cooking, but also have an eye for detail - from the sanitary conditions of their workspace, to the adherence to special guest needs, to the quality and taste of their final products sent out of the kitchen for our guests to enjoy.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Hours vary between 1st and 2nd shifts, and weekend availability is required. This position reports to the Lead Line Cook, Kitchen Manager, Chef de Cuisine, General Manager, and Ownership.
Job Duties:
- Arrive for work on time, properly attired, and physically and mentally prepared for your shift.
- Perform opening duties and follow the opening checklists. Ensuring their station is clean, organized, stocked, and products are rotated properly.
- Receive and store orders.
- Follow standardized recipes and procedures for the production of all food product & ensure proper product rotation.
- Maintain a clean, organized and sanitary work space at all times.
- Assist with service as able.
- Perform closing duties and follow the closing checklist. Ensuring their station is clean, organized, stocked, and tools are put away properly.
- Notify shift leader or manager of any 86’d items or problems with station or tools.
- Follows safe alcohol service practices and protocols at all times.
Job Requirements:
- Able to push, pull, and lift heavy objects, up to 60 pounds
- Able to lift heavy items above head, up to 35 pounds
- Able to stand on feet for long periods, up to 8 hours at a time.
- Able to maintain a kind, professional, and hospitable attitude and tone to guests, even in stressful situations. Knows when to seek assistance from Managers in stressful situations.
This position may have additional tasks assigned by upper level management, not outlined in this job description.
Compensation:
Type: Hourly
Rate: $19 - $22 per hour + percentage of daily tip pool.
This position is part of a tip pool. Tips from takeout orders are entered into a pool and split up amongst both the kitchen and support teams.
