Full Job Description

The City of La Crescent is seeking a detail‑oriented Administrative Clerk to support general City Hall functions. This position acts as the receptionist to greet and direct visitors at City Hall. Regular remote work is not available for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Operates City Hall telephone system, answers routine questions and directs calls to appropriate personnel
Takes customer payments
Enters cash receipting and balances cash drawer daily
Schedules park, shelter, and building rentals and invoices for same as necessary
Purchases office and cleaning supplies
Updates City of La Crescent Facebook page

Preferred Skills

Ability to handle varied duties in a small office environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years’ experience in office environment. Preferred experience working with the public daily
Considerable knowledge of computer software, especially Microsoft Word and Excel

Benefit Package

Represented by AFSCME Local Union No. 2166
2026 starting wage $23.16/hr. with 36-month five (5) step increases & Longevity to $27.12 hr.
11 Paid Holidays and 2 half day Holidays
2026 Medical Insurance contribution $2,800/month for family and $1,200/month for single coverage
Accrued Vacation and Sick Leave with the ability to bank Compensatory Time
Eligible for Minnesota Public Employees Retirement Association. Employee contribution 6.5%, Employer contribution 7.5%
