Full Job Description

Family Automotive Center has been fixing cars and taking care of drivers in Port Jefferson Station since 2011. We're a family-owned repair shop and used car dealership on Route 112 - four technicians, a busy service counter, and customers who've been coming to us for years. We've grown a lot this year, and our service advisor needs a partner at the front. That's the job. WHAT YOU'LL DO You're the first voice most customers hear. You'll answer incoming calls, book service appointments, and call people back with updates on their vehicles. You'll greet customers when they drop off and pick up, keep the schedule organized, and handle the paperwork that keeps a shop running. Let's be straight about the pace: our phones are busy. You will often have someone on hold while you're finishing another call, and there will be a customer standing at the counter while both lines are ringing. If that sounds stressful, this isn't the job. If you're the kind of person who gets sharper when it's busy, you'll like it here. Once you're settled in, you'll take on extended warranty claims - calling adjusters, submitting documentation, and following up until we get an answer. Adjusters say no for a living, and part of this job is not taking the first no when you know a repair is covered. It's detail work with a lot of hold time, and getting it off our advisor's plate is a big part of why this role exists. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR You don't need automotive experience. We'll teach you the car side. What we can't teach is being reliable, staying organized when three things happen at once, and being genuinely pleasant with people who are stressed because their car broke. We're also looking for someone with a little backbone - comfortable picking up the phone a second and third time, and following up until something is actually resolved. If you've worked a front desk, a retail counter, or a phone in any customer-facing job, you'll recognize most of this work. WHAT WE OFFER [SET PAY] $19-$23 per hour to start, depending on experience. There is real room to grow here, and it pays more as you do. This role can move up into service advising, and we would much rather promote someone from the front desk than hire from outside. If you're the kind of person who wants to earn more than a flat hourly wage, tell us in the interview - there's a path here for that. A set weekday schedule with no nights and no Sundays. A small team where you'll actually know everyone. Real training. SCHEDULE Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Occasional Saturday coverage, 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM LOCATION 1575 Route 112, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776 In person. Must be able to reliably commute.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
