About the Opportunity

SERVPRO of Bloomington/Pontiac is looking for a driven, relationship-focused Business Development Representative to help expand our presence throughout Central Illinois.

This is not simply a sales position. We are looking for someone who can become a recognizable face of our company in the community, build long-term referral relationships, develop commercial accounts, and identify opportunities where SERVPRO can help when property damage occurs.

Our business has historically produced well in the market and continues to grow. We believe our normal, non-catastrophe business has the potential to reach new levels during normal operation and has major upside during catastrophe/storm events. We also plan to expand to additional markets in the coming years.

We want a Business Development Representative who wants to help drive that growth—and we have built an uncapped compensation structure that rewards them when they do.

What You'll Do

The Business Development Representative will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and expanding relationships throughout our service area.

Primary responsibilities include:

Develop relationships with insurance agents, adjusters, property managers, facility managers, plumbers, roofers, contractors, municipalities, schools, healthcare facilities, manufacturers, and other commercial decision-makers.
Identify and pursue new commercial accounts and referral partnerships.
Maintain and grow existing referral relationships.
Conduct regular sales calls, visits, lunches, presentations, and follow-ups.
Attend networking events, association meetings, community events, trade shows, and other business-development opportunities.
Educate referral partners and commercial clients about SERVPRO's mitigation, restoration, reconstruction, and emergency-response capabilities.
Develop Emergency Ready Profiles and other pre-loss relationships with commercial customers.
Prospect for businesses that could benefit from having SERVPRO established as their preferred emergency restoration provider.
Monitor the market for fires, floods, storms, commercial property losses, and other large-loss opportunities.
Quickly pursue large-loss opportunities and coordinate with management and operations to help secure the work.
Maintain accurate records of contacts, referral sources, opportunities, and follow-up activity.
Work closely with ownership, management, production, and reconstruction teams to ensure opportunities are transitioned smoothly into operations.
Help strengthen SERVPRO's overall visibility and reputation throughout the community.

Compensation

We want this position to reward performance.

Base Salary

$55,000 annually

In addition to base salary, the Business Development Representative is eligible for monthly company-performance bonuses, personally generated revenue commissions, and immediate large-loss bonuses.

There is no cap on earning potential.

Monthly Company Revenue Bonus

Bonuses are calculated based on company collected revenue each month:

Under $150,000 collected: No company revenue bonus
$150,000–$200,000 collected: 0.50% bonus on monthly collected revenue
Over $200,000 collected: 0.50% on the first $200,000 plus 1.00% on all collected revenue above $200,000

Examples

$175,000 collected in a month:
$875 bonus

$200,000 collected:
$1,000 bonus

$250,000 collected:
$1,500 bonus

$300,000 collected:
$2,000 bonus

$400,000 collected:
$3,000 bonus

This portion of the compensation plan rewards the BDR for contributing to the success of the entire SERVPRO team.

Personally Generated New-Business Commission

We also believe you should be rewarded directly for business you create.

The Business Development Representative will earn an additional:

2% of collected revenue from personally sourced new business

Qualifying business may include new:

Commercial accounts
Property management relationships
Insurance/referral relationships
Plumber or contractor referrals
Facility relationships
Municipal or institutional accounts
Commercial prospects
Other new referral sources or opportunities directly developed by the BDR

For example:

Personally generate $250,000 in collected revenue:
$5,000 additional commission

Personally generate $500,000:
$10,000 additional commission

Personally generate $1,000,000:
$20,000 additional commission

Personally generate $2,000,000:
$40,000 additional commission

This commission is in addition to the monthly company revenue bonus.

Large-Loss Bonuses

Restoration opportunities do not always happen between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

When a major fire, water loss, storm event, or commercial emergency occurs, speed and relationships can determine who gets the job.

We want to reward that effort immediately.

When you identify, pursue, and help successfully land a qualifying large loss, additional bonuses include:

Residential / standard large loss: $500
Commercial loss of $50,000–$100,000: $750
Commercial loss of $100,000–$250,000: $1,000
Commercial loss of $250,000–$500,000: $1,500
Commercial loss of $500,000+: $2,500

Large-loss bonuses are earned when SERVPRO successfully secures the qualifying project and begins work.

These bonuses are in addition to other eligible commissions and bonuses.

What Can You Earn?

Our compensation plan is designed so that performance matters.

Acceptable Performer

Approximately $65,000–$75,000

Maintains relationships, represents the company well, performs required sales activity, and contributes to steady company performance.

Good Performer

Approximately $80,000–$95,000

Consistently develops new referral sources, generates new revenue, grows commercial relationships, and lands new opportunities.

Excellent Performer

Approximately $100,000–$120,000+

Produces significant new business, develops valuable commercial accounts, consistently lands opportunities, and materially contributes to company growth.

Absolute Rainmaker

Uncapped

If you help take our company to another level, we want you to participate financially in the growth you create.

There is no artificial ceiling on what a high-performing Business Development Representative can earn.

Experience in business development, outside sales, insurance, property management, commercial services, construction, restoration, roofing, plumbing, facilities management, or relationship-based sales is helpful but not necessarily required for the right individual.
